The food was fine, but everything else about the experience was frustrating. The seating process was completely disorganized — a long line of guests waiting while a hostess stood there cleaning menus for an extended period instead of actually seating people or managing the crowd.
What really crossed the line was the handling of a so-called “complimentary” item. A manager brought my friend and me BBQ chips and said they were “on the house” since it was our first visit. We didn’t ask for anything, but took it at face value.
Later, I checked the receipt and found we were charged $6.75 for those same chips.
That’s not a small mistake — that’s misleading. If something is presented as complimentary, it should never show up on the bill. Calling it an “oversight” when I followed up doesn’t fix the fact that it happened in the first place.
Between the disorganization at the front and the questionable billing practices, this experience felt careless at best and dishonest at worst. Definitely not what you expect from a place like this.
First visit first impression - not good.

Food was fine, but the experience was frustrating. The wait for seating was poorly managed—there was a long line while a hostess stood off to the side cleaning menus instead of helping move things along.
More concerning was what felt like a misleading charge. A manager brought us BBQ chips and said they were ‘on the house’ since it was our first visit. We didn’t ask for them, so we assumed they were complimentary. Later, we realized we were charged $6.75.
When I called, I was told it was an ‘oversight,’ but that doesn’t inspire much confidence. Charging customers for something presented as free is not a good look.
This place has potential, but they need to tighten up operations and be far more transparent.

I've been to the Lazy Dog in Fair Oaks mall next to Dave and Busters, one of the greatest upscale restaurant experiences I've ever had in my many visits to eat in other times. But this Chantilly Virginia Lazy Dog restaurant I will never be going to again 😞 the staff in the entrance was rude, the server we had was never around hardly saw them , even a manager had to come and take the dishes from our table because the server was never hardly around 😯???? , the food had low standard quality - nothing compared to the Lazy Dog in Fair Oaks mall area. Everyone was eating and my for too an extra 15 minutes and seemed plopped on, missing food items from the plate 🍽️ asked for medium well and got medium rare instead 😡. Every one we invited to the dinner were disappointed to the low quality customer service we received there, sorry 😐 but corporate needs to step up their training in this location because it's lost some loyal customers for that specific location, we weren't going to give any tip but through compassion we gave a low one anyway. We will go back in a month to give them another chance and to see if anything has changed for the better ( oh and one of the managers was upset and we could see it that she had to take our dirty dishes and remind the server to refill our drinks.

BEST SERVER EVER: KAT THANK YOU
We came in as first timers and our waitress was Kat, she has AMAZING positive energy, had great recommendations for the whole menu. For appetizers recommended honey dip and she brought us extra bread, thank you for that! It was so good. She was so attentive kept checking up on my group for drinks refills and Food and was very accommodating to our table. Kat- thank you for making a memorable and great first impression at the lazy dog. My girls and I had an AWESOME time. Not to mention banana pudding - great recommendation and was a nice ending to the night!!

Was here today Friday and David our amazing server took care of us the bar area. My friend and I frequent here often as she lives across the street. This abt tends to be very busy and we often get ignored or service takes to long. David checked on us so often and with a smile on his face. I even asked him to let us know if the rain had stopped and he did. For my to go box he brought me a separate container for my feta cheese. everything about him was so pleasant. And he was just a humble nice guy!! Because of him we will keep coming back more frequently now. Thanks for being a ray of sunshine on this gloomy friday evening David!
