I went to the Fairfax location back on 12/20 with my best friend, I meant to review much earlier than now but the holidays were hectic and this was my first time dining there and I was impressed just by the look of the restaurant itself. The food was great and there were a lot of options to choose from and our servers were Shelby who was training Magnus, it was busy but then again it was a Saturday night so it didn’t surprise me. I have to give a shoutout to Shelby who was a true rockstar, she was able to deal with the business of the restaurant and apologized for the wait which again, didn’t bother my friend and I. What truly impressed me was one of the employees dropped some things and you could hear some things shatter, the person that accidentally dropped the items looked a bit embarrassed and worried but Shelby took control and was also calm and helped out the person; overall she made taking care of her fellow employees and customers while swimming through the chaos look so easy. If you’ve ever thought about trying this place out, GO CHECK IT OUT!!!

There were a variety of dishes. I had the Korean short rib rice dish, which was okay. There was a bit of a sour taste to it, but it was still edible. The cheese curds were fantastic. The apple pie was warm and delightful. I was having a stressful day, but then Ru, our server, was so sweet and patient with us. My friend has an allergy and she was gracious enough to double-check whether that ingredient was really in there or not. Thank goodness she did, because she found out the desert dish was made in a facility that had nuts. Ru was also efficient and refilled our drinks at perfect times. She gave us space to talk about some private matters and knew when to interject to see how we were doing. I would solely come back here if I can get Ru as our server again, because of the great experience we had with her.

My uncle and I went here for dinner and this was our first time trying the restaurant. I have to say that I was really impressed with the food. Everything that came out was delicious! I loved how they had my Kentucky bourbon for my old fashioned. Apparently that specific bourbon is hard to find around here! We got started with the chicken nuggets and they were so good. I loved how the nuggets came with two dipping sauces. Next, I got the chicken sandwich and added a Caesar salad. The salad was wet and had tons of seasoning, not to mention the portion size was amazing. The chicken sandwich had a good ratio of bread and meat and every bite of the sandwich felt like it was melting in your mouth. For my side that came with the chicken sandwich, I got the umami fries. I have to say that I was nervous at first, but the waiter described how good they were. I have to say that she was right! They weren't drenched in sauce so that made eating them all the better! Lastly, I ordered the Thai Noodles to-go, and I enjoyed them as well. The service was good too. Overall, I will be back! (Ratings) Old fashioned, 8 out 10. Thai Noodles, 8 out of 10. Umami fries, 9 out of 10. Buffalo Chicken Nuggets, 9 out of 10. Fried Chicken Sandwich, 10 out of 10.

Maybe it was my fault coming in uniform. I was seated immediately. Then they seated 3 more parties, took all their drink and food orders and totally ignored my table. After 15 minutes I had to flago down a waiter. They were very unenthusiastic about helping us specifically. I would have just walked out, but my companion was very determined to stay. The food was good, though probably contained a ton of spit based on our treatment. If you aren't military or veteran friendly, maybe post a sign. At the end they were really weird about a military discount. To be clear, I didn't ask about it. They brought it up very angrily like "You probably think you deserve a military discount too!" I was mortified. I said I wasn't going to ask and then they muttered something like, "good we aren't going to give you one". Over all the food was fine and the place seemed fun. Just not for anyone in uniform I supposed. Next time I'm heading directly from a funeral, I'll just be sad with some carry out somewhere else.

Lazy Dog is one of those rare restaurants that truly has something for everyone. The menu is impressively large, with options ranging from burgers and comfort food to Thai-inspired dishes and Mediterranean flavors—perfect for groups with different tastes. What really sets this place apart is how dog-friendly it is. There are very few restaurants in the DMV area with a heated patio, that welcomes dogs, and even offers a dog menu. We visited after the Bull Run Festival of Lights with our puppy, and after a cold evening outdoors, the warm food and cozy patio were exactly what we needed. The patio has a fire feature in the center, which adds a nice, warm, and inviting atmosphere without being overwhelming. The food was served hot, comforting, and satisfying, and the service was quick, attentive, and courteous, even though it was a busy night. We’ll definitely be checking out other Lazy Dog locations in the future. Highly recommend this place to families, and especially to pet parents who want to dine out without leaving their fur babies behind.
