The store is clean and the sale products are great. However, the staffing and self-checkout process are problematic. I often have to wait for an assistant to verify my age, and Virginia’s MID isn’t accepted. It’s frustrating when the assistant told me today that she doesn’t care if it’s a DMV-approved digital ID. As technology advances, physical IDs will likely become obsolete in the future.

Safeway is a great supermarket. They are all merchandised in a calculated way that makes grocery shopping simple

I think it's the worst grocery store I've ever visited. I visited this week and found it, as usual, to be barely staffed (i.e., no one to help find items). I first tried the regular checkout but, again as usual, the person working there was moving so slowly I actually thought they were trolling. I went to the self-checkout where the person supposedly helping had his face buried in his cell phone so deeply he could barely be bothered to come over when I called him to clear up broccoli confusion ... is it "regular broccoli" or "broccoli"? He just said he had no idea, punched a key, and turned back to his phone. The same person was waiting at the checkout when I left. It really is like this every time I go there, which is not very often any more. It's also expensive and poorly set out. I have it two stars because it's in a good location -- which is unfortunate because we could get an actually good grocery store there if they would move out.

Shopping here on and off for 10 years, seems to be a culture of poor customer service

I’m a very frequent curbside pickup user and absolutely love it. The staff who shop for you & bring out to your car (especially Peter & Tyler) are so helpful, accommodating, and friendly. Thanks for running a tight ship and always showing up with a smile!
