BUYER BEWARE. Stay away from this Safeway. I recently had a disappointing experience at this Safeway on April 7 at approximately 7:05 PM that I feel compelled to share. Check your cameras. During self checkout, upon inquiring about parking validation, I encountered an employee standing near the self-checkout kiosks who exhibited a noticeable lack of patience. Instead of providing helpful information, he simply gestured and stated, "use your receipt." When I sought further clarification, he raised his voice in front of other customers repeating himself, declaring, "I’m here and I’m not going anywhere. I’m in this country to make it better." This comment seemed completely irrelevant to my question and highlighted a troubling absence of proper customer service training. His behavior was not only unprofessional but also quite alarming, as he appeared comfortable yelling and gaslighting me, which reflects poorly on the management's philosophy in empowering employees to act in such a manner. Throughout this uncomfortable encounter, not a single manager intervened. Another employee approached to inquire about the situation, but rather than assist, he allowed the disgruntled employee to speak over me as I tried to explain the problem. Additionally, the store itself was overcrowded, making it difficult to navigate. The aisles were so cramped that it was challenging for two carts to pass each other, especially in the back of the store. I encountered this issue at the milk freezers. Overall, my experience was frustrating and unprofessional, and I hope the management takes steps to address these issues. I will not shop here again and will prefer to shop at other nearby stores like whole foods. I am also a business owner in Arlington. Very disappointed to see this display of poor customer service.

I shop at this Safeway location only because it’s convenient, but the customer service culture here has become consistently frustrating. My latest visit was March 16 around 9:35 PM. I had close to 30 items in my cart and when I approached the front, there were five employees present. Two were overseeing self-checkout and the others were standing nearby talking. Despite that, I was told: “No one is here for the register, but I can help you at self-checkout.” Self-checkout is not practical with 30+ items, and customers shouldn’t have to do the store’s job. When I pushed back and said that wasn’t acceptable, someone finally opened a register. But the problem is this isn’t a one-time incident. This is the third time I’ve had to insist that someone open a register here. On another visit I had over $100 worth of groceries and was again told no one was available. On a separate early morning visit at 6 AM, I was told “no one is scheduled for registers until 8 AM.” In each case, registers were only opened after I pushed for it — and without any apology. This suggests a larger issue with training, staffing protocols, or pressure from corporate to push self-checkout at the expense of customer service. If the goal is to turn this store into self-checkout only, then just say so. But if you’re going to operate as a grocery store, customers with full carts shouldn’t have to argue just to get a register opened. Management and corporate should take note: when customers are ready to spend money and can’t check out properly, they eventually shop somewhere else.

Prices are high but the staff is always nice and helpful. I’m also not happy with the fact that you guys never have the green beans on the hot bar anymore. Those are a crowd favorite and I look forward to them everyday and they aren’t there. Those chopped greens aren’t very good. Please have green beans every day. Thank you. If you bring green beans I will give you a higher rating. Until then. No.

The seafood department was disappointing, both in terms of customer service and the quality of the food. On top of that, the parking situation was awkward and inconvenient. Overall, it wasn’t a great experience, and I don’t plan on returning.

Very rude staff! They stare like you are a thief - specially at the newly launched food counter. Few of the men who are assigned to watch the door and help the self checkout kiosks and the cashiers of this store are unaware of the offers the food counter provides - they don’t apply the offers unless you show the flyers of the discounts - which is hilarious cause you are the employee and you should know! Now the food counter: they have 4 piece/8 piece fried chicken options. Once you add them in a box and arrive at the counter to get a QR code, there are employees who will ask you to open the box and check the number of pieces. This is extremely disrespectful! You can pack the box and not let customers pack for themselves if you are sure that people are stealing your food! That’s common sense! Guys - just go to the Target store, it is right opposite to this Safeway store or buy from small businesses. I’m extremely disappointed with this store. I’m struggling to write this review cause there are some good staff working there too and I don’t want them to suffer due to a few bad apples!
