We stopped by this friendly Bar/Restaurant today on our way home. Tyler is an excellent bar keep/server. He checked on us several times. It was a pleasure to have ice cold beers outside while relaxing and people watching. We were happily surprised to find our bill was low becauae it had been happy hour! Thank you Tyler and The Light Horse for a wonderful afternoon.

If you think “bar food” means playing it safe, Light Horse Restaurant and Bar is here to politely prove you wrong. This place takes the familiar and gives it a confident little glow-up, everything lands a few notches above what you’d expect from a solid Old Town spot. We’ve been back more than once (always a good sign), and the consistency is impressive. The beef burger? Properly indulgent and unapologetically delicious. The blackened salmon Caesar brings a bold, smoky edge that keeps things interesting, while the smoked chicken wings deliver serious depth of flavour, these aren’t your average wings, they’ve got personality. The bar staff add to the charm, chatty, friendly, and genuinely engaging without overdoing it. The space itself strikes that sweet spot between cozy and stylish, making it just as suitable for a casual bite as it is for a laid-back night out. If you’re in Old Town and want food that overdelivers without overcharging, Light Horse is an easy choice. It’s bar food, but with ambition.

Really enjoyed our food. I had the berry and goat cheese salad with chicken. It was just the right size and very light for a hot day. The chicken tasted fresh and was lightly seasoned which I really appreciated. I often find chicken at restaurants too salty. The salad itself was fresh and had large blueberries and small grape tomatoes with a healthy amount of slivered almonds and just a little sprinkle of goat cheese. It was a perfect combination. My husband had the fish and chips and he thoroughly enjoyed everything. The fries and fish were fried perfectly. The only thing we didn't like was that it was so loud so if you didn't want a bar atmosphere I would recommend and outside seat. We will be back though!

We cannot rave about Light Horse, enough! Between the atmosphere, the food, the amazing staff, and bartenders, along with events coordinator Duncan. My daughter and now son-in-law decided to hold their wedding reception upstairs. From the day we stopped by and toured Light Horse to the day of the wedding everything was handled exactly as planned. No one waited for drinks, buffet items were promptly refilled. Everyone from the wedding party had nothing but good things to say. We highly recommend making them a must when in or around the D.C. area! Thank you so much for making my daughter’s wedding day even more special!

Went in because they were advertising a prime rib special. Order and drink and the special. Promptly forget to put my food order in. After 40 minutes I ask about my food and find out they can serve alcohol but apparently not food. Went around the corner, ordered food, and received food from a restaurant. Amazing how that works. Edit: bartender stopped me in the street to apologize and said he didn’t realize I was ordering food. Here is how the interaction went: Him: Welcome, are you hungry or thirsty? Me: both. Him: Great, we have some chef specials and a $20 prime rib on Tuesday. Me: yep, I saw that outside. That’s what I want. Him: great, comes with mashed potatoes and broccoli. You can sub fries or a salad. Me: nope, that sounds good I’ll take that. Him: okay. Not sure how that is not a good order. Here’s the thing, even if it wasn’t. I told you I wanted food. After 45 minutes I have to flag someone down? No one comes to take a food order in that time? The couple seated literally right next to me, who ordered at the same time and the same thing, received their food and cleaned their plates with no one coming to ask me if I was ready to order? Okay…..
