- JSJAZZ SMITHMar 15, 20261.0On the evening of March 14, 2026, I experienced a very upsetting situation at a Safeway location that I frequent often. Because I work late, I arrived at approximately 11:50 PM, fully aware that the store closes at 12:00 AM. I only had about 7–9 items in a small basket and was already inside the store prior to closing. At approximately 12:03 AM, the manager informed me that I would not be allowed to check out because the store was closed. I found this to be very unprofessional and unreasonable. I was already in the store before closing, had a small number of items, and was paying by credit card, so the transaction would have taken very little time. I have shopped at this location many times and have never experienced anything like this before. Refusing service just three minutes after closing, especially when a customer was already inside before closing time, feels unacceptable and poor customer service. I hope this matter can be addressed so that situations like this are handled more reasonably in the future, especially for customers who regularly shop at this location.

Darian who was the cashier in another lane saw a lady struggling to get one of her grocery items up on the conveyer belt and didn’t hesitate to walk around and help. Not only did he help, but he unloaded her whole cart while conversating with her. It looked like it made her whole day, it certainly made mine. A very professional, friendly, and genuine person he was. Thank you for putting a smile on my face with your act of kindness.

All I do is show him her picture and he makes it. Now that is top level customer service. He also carefully packages it because I am allergic to fish.
