I used to be a regular customer here, but I was subjected to blatant discrimination and public humiliation by the manager, Edmund, and a female associate. I am a 21-year-old man. I presented my 100% valid, legal ID to purchase alcohol—something I have done at this location many times before. Instead of following store protocol and scanning the ID, Edmund and his staff decided to "judge" me. Because I am a trans man who hasn't started hormones yet, I have a youthful face and no beard. Rather than doing their jobs and using the scanner, they used my appearance as an excuse to mock me. They loudly claimed my ID was "fake" in front of a store full of people. Edmund actually snickered at me while refusing to even scan the barcode. This wasn’t about "checking IDs"—it was a power trip. They saw a trans man who looked young and decided to make a scene instead of following the law. It is pathetic that a manager would rather harass a customer and then try to delete the review than just admit he was wrong. I haven’t been in months because of how unsafe I felt. Warning: This store is not a safe space. If you don't fit their specific "look," expect to be publicly shamed by a manager who doesn't know how to use a scanner.
