My family visiting and I came to this establishment last summer and the food was great. My brother and I are world travelers and he’s a steak guy and I’m a fish person. As someone who would usually want a seafood dish, I decided to go with steak and I would say it was delicious. So much that I’ve been back twice since my initial visit and my brother said it’s one of the best steaks he’s ever had. The Brussels sprouts, mac and cheese were good as well… but that wedge salad was the star of the sides - yes I know I’m speaking of a simple wedge salad - but it is the best salad I’ve ever had… it’s unique and not so simple as someone who is considered, Baby Chef Ramsey, I cannot for the life of me recreate that salad at home.

Where do I even begin… My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing. Our server was extremely inattentive, it honestly felt like we were bothering him anytime we needed something. Meanwhile, we saw him interacting with other tables, smiling and laughing, which made the difference in treatment even more noticeable. I say this with a heavy heart, but it genuinely felt like we weren’t treated the same because of the color of our skin.
He rarely checked on us, and we constantly had to flag him down or ask other servers for assistance. The only time he came over without us having to call him was when he noticed cash sitting on the table. It honestly seemed like he thought it was for him, because his level of attention toward us changed dramatically the moment he saw it.
One of my friends ordered her steak well done, and it came out clearly undercooked. She sent it back to be grilled more, but it still wasn’t well done in the center. On top of that, the food overall was bland and did not live up to the hype at all.
The atmosphere was beautiful, I’ll give them that. But the service and food were truly disappointing. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

Went for wife’s birthday dinner on a Friday night. We were a bit late due to traffic but they accommodated our party without issue.
Drinks were good (Dude Caramel and Old Fashioned). Sides were smaller than expected for shareable portions but delicious.
Oyster Rockefeller was good. Bread was fluffy and butter was warm.
STEAKS WERE BEAUTIFULLY SEASONED AND COOKED TO PERFECTION.
The only qualm was the wait for entrees/steaks but everything else came with great timing.
We will definitely be back

I went recently with a group of 5-6 people. Greeted promptly upon sitting down, the service throughout the night was great. We all had steaks but one who had seafood dish and all the feedback was excellent. The Brussel sprouts were a fave at the table but we all sampled different sides and there wasn’t a crumb left. We ordered a couple desserts for the table cause we were all stuffed from dinner but glad we did, great desserts. Todd, the mgr, stopped by to ask about meal, if the service had been good, if there was anything we needed, etc which I thought was a nice touch. I saw him going table to table so Oak Steakhouse and Todd take pride in their restaurant. Highly recommend when in Old Town Alexandria.

I treated my boyfriend to a nice birthday dinner and truly wanted the evening to feel special. To be fair, the night started off wonderfully. We were greeted warmly the moment we walked in, and every staff member we interacted with was kind, respectful, and attentive. Our cozy window seat and the overall ambiance created a lovely atmosphere that set high expectations for the meal.
Unfortunately, the food did not live up to those expectations—especially considering the hefty price tags attached to each dish. We ordered the beef belly specifically because it was described as being served with bacon jam. Not only could we not taste the bacon jam, but when I asked our waitress about it, she explained that the portion is so small it’s barely visible on the plate. In my opinion, if a component is listed on the menu, it should be present enough to actually taste. That detail was the entire reason we chose the appetizer.
My entrée, the sea scallop dish, was another disappointment. The scallops were tiny and not cooked the way I know they should have been. The sauces on the plate felt mismatched, and the so‑called “gnocchi” was nothing like gnocchi at all—the texture was unpleasant, and the flavor was off‑putting. I didn’t complain at the table because it’s a classy establishment, but I left feeling genuinely let down by the quality of the food.
My boyfriend was given a complimentary birthday dessert, which I appreciated, but even that missed the mark. For a place of this caliber, I expected something memorable, and it simply wasn’t.
After spending over $300 on dinner, I expected to walk out amazed, not regretting my choices. The best thing we ate all night was the Caesar salad, which says a lot about the overall experience. While the service and ambiance were wonderful, the food simply didn’t justify the cost, and that’s what ultimately made the evening disappointing.
