Go anywhere else. It may be convenient but horribly overpriced (one item is literally double what it is elsewhere) and they don’t even open main doors but cal them an “emergency exit” when it’s very clearly THE main door. Grew up on Stop and Shop but this store reflects poorly on the brand

Worst grocery store layout I have ever seen. Scientists studying claustrophobia could use this self-checkout as a simulator, it genuinely feels like a bad joke to go through. If the ‘aisle’ can’t fit two carts there shouldn’t be two lines of registers. The whole store is just a mess to navigate; at least pay your staff enough to stock overnight so customers don’t have to dodge six employees and their carts per aisle on a Friday afternoon. Can’t imagine ever coming here again except as a last resort.

I had an uncomfortable experience at this Giant location during checkout that I feel should be addressed. Because I typically have groceries delivered, and I don’t live in Virginia, I was unfamiliar with the store’s current bagging process. During my transaction, the cashier, Pamela (Pam) initially began bagging my items after scanning them, which reasonably led me to believe this was part of the checkout process. When I questioned it and expressed appreciation for the help, her attitude became passive-aggressive. She made loud remarks stating that “she wasn’t going to bag her stuff,” laughed, and told me not to get back in her line if I returned to the store. When I stated that I would bag my own groceries, she publicly implied that I was not telling the truth. These comments were made loudly enough for other customers to hear, which was embarrassing and unnecessary. Although the remarks were accompanied by laughter and a smile, the tone and content felt dismissive and disrespectful rather than lighthearted. What should have been a simple misunderstanding about store policy escalated into a situation where I felt publicly embarrassed and spoken down to. I hope management reviews this interaction and reinforces the importance of respectful, clear communication with customers, especially when policies may not be immediately obvious.

I can’t believe they have not cleared their sidewalks of snow and ice!!!! I was there yesterday and came out the front door to a solid sheet of ice. The only entrance from outside you can get in is the back corner by the Starbucks. The one with four separate doors leading to rt #1 Richmond Highway has several sets of stairs completely covered in snow and ice. So incredibly dangerous. They should have locked the door since they lock it all time anyway because of theft. I got out there not knowing they had not even tried to clear anything in that area and I couldn’t get back in the store to go the other way. I have never ever seen a business be so careless especially a huge company like this. I was out every single day since the storm and everywhere else I went did a great job with their sidewalks and entrances. I thought legally they were required to clear the sidewalks! Across the street was even worse. Not their property probably city of Alexandria (not sure) but the bus stop is there and many of the Giant employees use the bus to go home. Everyone had to stand in the street or a on a thick solid slippery sheet of ice. They have enough big strong men working there especially the one who walks around the store spraying himself with perfume and makes me choke. He is a huge strong man they should have asked him to make a path to the bus stop. Still can’t believe that Giant dropped the ball like this! Not everyone drives and parks in the garage but everyone has to eat. There is absolutely no excuse for the dangerous way they left their entrance.
