  Basically, dont trust any sushi place run by non-Japanese. This holds true for this place. Ok if you want usual susni but the rolls are subpar (who wants to eat a muffin sized tempura shrimp roll the width and taste of an exhaust pipe?) There are better places elsewhere for sushi

  Walked in to this location for a pick up order to try a new place. EXCELLENT decor that has the family wanting to go again for dine-in. Take out food was EXCELLENT in flavor and cost-value. Looking forward to the next visit!

  Akeno exceeded every expectation! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff made the entire experience feel personal and effortless. Every detail—from the presentation to the pacing—was done with care. The quality was outstanding, and you can tell there’s real pride behind everything they offer. I’ll absolutely be coming back and recommending Akeno to friends and family. A true standout!

  We were visiting Alexandria and happened to stumble across Akeno Sushi Bar and Thai — what an amazing find! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff made us feel right at home from the start. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, which really added to the overall experience. We kicked things off with the fried gyoza, spicy garlic edamame, and miso soup, and everything was spot on. The gyoza had that perfect crispy texture and savory filling, the edamame had just the right kick of spice and garlic, and the miso soup was warm and flavorful — exactly what you want before sushi. For our rolls, we tried the Kani Kani Roll, Red Dragon Roll, and Amako Masuri Roll, and each one was beautifully made and incredibly fresh. You can tell they take real pride in their presentation and flavor balance. The textures and sauces were on point — nothing overpowering, just really well done. Overall, this place definitely lived up to the great reviews we saw online. Whether you’re local or just passing through, Akeno Sushi Bar and Thai is absolutely worth a visit. We’ll 100% be back the next time we’re in the area!
