The store was a little messy, but I assumed they were busy earlier and hadn’t gotten around to cleaning up. More importantly, the employee, Summer, who took my order and made my sandwich, was so blatantly disrespectful. I heard her talking badly about a previous customer, and when I finally got her attention, she seemed irritated that I was even there. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I mean, I’ve worked in customer service before; I know it can be irritating. So even though she should never show that in front of customers, it didn’t bother me all that much at first. But then, when I asked a few questions, she looked at me like I was the most idiotic person she’d ever seen. When she finally answered, her replies were short, rude, and mostly unhelpful. After I decided on my sandwich. She claimed she couldn’t hear me and almost yelled at me to speak up?? Then, to my surprise, she started putting together a sandwich with stuff I specifically wanted off. When I told her about it, she seemed so annoyed, and I felt self-conscious. People were waiting in line, and she said something like I was making a fuss when I could just take it off myself. I understand that everyone makes mistakes, and I don’t have a great memory myself, but that’s no excuse for her behavior. I don’t expect fine dining service at Subway, but I do expect basic respect and professionalism. Summer made the entire experience uncomfortable, and I left regretting that I had even stopped in. I won’t be returning as long as employees like her are working there.
