The year was 1943, and Jim and Alice Wimmer decided to take a big risk, buying a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks. How fitting that in 2018, the restaurant’s 75th anniversary year, the third generation of Wimmers, Amy Wimmer, takes the helm from her father Jeff and his wife Jane, bringing her own adventurous spirit to the Del-Bar, the same kind of spirit she so admired in her grandparents.
Rich History • 75 Years & 3 Generations • Award Winning Cuisine
While flattering comparisons to steakhouses in Chicago and New York are regularly made by visitors, Amy Wimmer still cherishes this restaurant, her family restaurant, as one-of-a-kind.
Had such a great experience at Del-Bar thanks to Mariana and Roy. Mariana was amazing with drink recommendations—she really knew the menu and helped us pick things we wouldn’t have tried on our own, and everything was perfect. Roy made the whole night even better with his jokes and fun personality—super attentive without being too much. You can tell they both genuinely enjoy what they do. Service like that honestly makes you want to come back. Highly recommend asking for them!

Had an amazing experience at The Del-Bar. The food tasted incredibly fresh and natural, with truly restaurant-quality flavors in every dish. The New York steak and the fish were both excellent, perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
I especially recommend the cauliflower purée — absolutely delicious and something a bit different from the usual sides.
The service was also wonderful, very attentive and friendly staff.
Definitely one of the most memorable places in my collection of restaurants, and somewhere I would happily come back to again.

I've had experience reviewing supper clubs and other various food spots. To start I love the feel the Del Bar brings, cozy and nostalgic. Service was great, water at your table when your reserve, bread and butter galore! Oysters were great although they could have been cooked more considering there Rockefeller. My greatest dissappotment was the schnitzel. For $40.00 the most expensive part of our duo meal was this dish and I was disappointed. Soggy and not up to par.
Id recommend this restaurant, but possibly overlooking slightly less popular dishes might be the downfall of this review.

Went for dinner for our anniversary several years ago and have returned for our anniversary for the last several years. This time we took advantage of the happy hour apps before dinner and that was all perfect. We both had our steaks (cooked perfectly) with the bone marrow butter and they were excellent! We received a complimentary glass (each) of champagne for our anniversary as well, which was a welcomed surprise. We finished the evening with a creme brule which was also amazing. Thank you Del-Bar for being our go to anniversary dinner place ❤️

Wow! Love, love, love this place. The atmosphere and service are spot on. The food was fabulous and the cocktails; I can't say enough about them. The pomegranate martini, to die for, and the jubilee martini was wonderful as well. Steve said the Vespar was great and the Old Fashioned was much better than the one he had at Ishnala earlier in the afternoon (no offense to Ishnala - we just had drinks but with that view, we'll definitely go back for dinner sometime. And the staff and owner there were super welcoming, even though we just stopped in to try the Old Fashioned). Back to Del-Bar - if you haven't been, you have to at some point. It's a truly classy, superclub vibe and you WILL NOT be disappointed. Finally, this was Sat night, prime rib night and Derby Day as well as apparently, a prom night. We showed up an hour early for cocktails but our table was ready per our reservation, so under all those circumstances, the reservation was a great idea and highly recommended.
