The year was 1943, and Jim and Alice Wimmer decided to take a big risk, buying a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks. How fitting that in 2018, the restaurant’s 75th anniversary year, the third generation of Wimmers, Amy Wimmer, takes the helm from her father Jeff and his wife Jane, bringing her own adventurous spirit to the Del-Bar, the same kind of spirit she so admired in her grandparents.

- LSLeah S4 days ago4.0Probably closer to a 3.5/5 The vibes are immaculate & the service is definitely like a well-oiled machine - no complaints here! Parking: since this shared a lot with a hotel parking was packed & hard to find a spot. Drinks: We loved the free champagne for our anniversary. My husband said his old fashioned was one of the best he’s had & my cucumber martini was delicious. Food: can never go wrong with cheese curds & loved the honey mustard pairing. My husband said his French onion soup was again, one of the best he’s had. My Caesar salad was solid, but not memorable. We were told the steaks here are what to get, so my husband got the steak frites. He said there was so much pepper on it that he had to try really hard to not cough from the amount (and we are heavy pepper users in our own cooking). I got chicken cordon bleu which was tasty, but the sauce was a little on the saltier side. However, the chicken itself was so juicy & fantastic.

Wife had the lobster roll with hashbrowns and added clam chowder. Lobster roll very good, hashbrowns so crisp and good w,/onions in them. Clam chowder was excellent. I had the boneless ribeye. So tender and cooked so well. Melted in my mouth. Than my wife had to have the Schaum torte and was not dissapointed. The closest to her memory of her grandma's she has ever enjoyed. Big enough for 3 or 4 easy to share but so good you won't want to share. And the atmosphere is so classic and classy.
- BGBrian GornallAug 26, 20262.0There are way better options than this. My $64 wet aged steak was destroyed. Charred so heavily it tasted like coal. Overcooked is an understatement. Crackers on the table were stale....several days old. Fries for the kids were a soggy mess. Service is better at Arby's. It's as if they went out of their way to make everything bad. Waitress didn't check our meals until it was time for the check. Do better. Like I said, there are much better options. You shouldn't drop a few hundred dollars on dinner and then leave wanting to grab food on the way to the hotel.
- RPR PAug 25, 20263.0Food was ok - some was great but some was a miss. 3 of us had the ribeye. It was high quality and welll prepared. However, the sides (e.g., baked potato) were cold and had no butter - we were told to use the butter on the table we had for the bread. Mashed potatoes were really good. Wedge salad had very little dressing - and it was french dressing with blue cheese crumbles (wierd combo - to me) - just some examples of the hit or miss. Service was ok. However, they added a mandatory 20% gratuity. Service wasn't that outstanding to justify that. If the bill would have been $60 per person, this place would have been great. At the $110 to $120 we paid, its not worth a return visit.

We ordered appetizers, which when they arrived, they were room temperature at best, however they were very good. When our food arrived..same thing! Room temperature at best! My daughters burger was super dry, and very hard to eat as a result. I order my tenderloin med-well (which was butterflied as requested), however it was more med than I wanted. It was still good. The waters at the table...HORRIBLE! It had a horrible flavor to it. Couldn't even drink it. Overall, it was a nice place, but very overpriced IMO. Especially since the kitchen doesn't seem very efficient for putting out almost cold food! Pretty much a one and done in our book.
