  I tried this place for the first time the other day but I’m the evening. Calm, productive environment for working on the laptop. I came by again early afternoon today- completely different vibe. The place was busy, so of course I expected noise. However, the 2 lady baristas were absolutely obnoxious- singing loudly to a song. People around me were turning their heads just as I was. They went on and on so I eventually packed up and left. Totally get wanting to have fun while you’re working- but geez. Absolutely obnoxious they were.

  This was my first time visiting Colectivo and overall, I was pretty happy with the quality of the coffee and the ability to quietly connect with a friend. I was adventurous and decided to order two fall based items, the Iced Pumpkin Spice Fluff Latte, and the Baked Pumpkin Pecan Oatmeal. Both were good, but me being me, I have some critiques. The Pumpkin Spice Fluff Latte was great because it really incorporated a lot of those Fall spices we’ve all come to love—nutmeg, cinnamon, and the works. However, I was disappointed that there was no evidence of the marshmallow fluff. While I don’t think the recipe needs tweaking, I really feel like having whole fluff somewhere in the drink could’ve added a great sweetness and textural element that would have “wowed” me. I did love the strength of the coffee though, which is often overlooked once additional flavors are added. As for the oatmeal, I think all the flavors were there, but the texture was dry. It felt more like a baked good, rather than a warming, hearty breakfast. This location was relatively busy for a Sunday morning, which was great because it added a lively atmosphere. There was a small (about five spot) parking lot out back, so navigating where to park on the street was a bit of an issue. I think so far though, this is one of the higher quality coffee shops in Madison, so I’m eager to try out other locations and continue to experiment with their menu.

  Unimpressed. Not sure what the hype is. The latte cost the same as Starbucks but tasted worse. For a $7 drink I expected better. Also ordered a muffin which wasn’t quite as fresh as it should be for a busy Saturday morning. This place is so crowded and loud that unless you live within walking distance, I see no reason to make a trip here. Leopold’s is right down the road, and they serve coffee and cocktails and sell books.

  They were out of the sugar free syrup we ordered for two of our pick up drinks. Instead of just offering to make them with something else. They wrote refunded on my receipt and when we got there to pick it up only one drink and food item was sitting there. I asked about it and the person said that I could just get in line and reorder. No, we did a pickup for a reason, and I don’t have my money back and my app order has not been updated with the refund. Such a mess.
