Arandas Mexican Grill, Horicon’s nacho-ordinary spot to stop, where the skillets sing, the salsa swings, and every plate brings the fiesta to life.
Red salsa, green salsa, smooth salsa, mean salsa, with every degree of delicious in between. My favorite was green, mild on the scene but mighty in flavor, a bright little bite worth savoring later. Scoop the guac, dip the chip, let the lime and cilantro perform a backflip.
Cue the guitars, rattle the jars, let mariachi trumpets toot beneath the stars. Marigolds glow while calaveras grin, inviting the hungry and thirsty within. It’s a Day of the Dead spread lively enough to wake the dead, with peppers, spices, and warm tortillas ahead.
Then comes the michelada, a miracle in a mug, the Bloody Mary’s Mexican cousin with a lime-laced hug. Light, red, and zesty, a little salty, a little saucy, a hair-of-the-dog song when the morning feels foggy.
Horchata swirls while the whole grill twirls. Burritos roll, tacos rock, and sizzling skillets tick like a clock. Salads, spirits, specials, and spice, a south-of-the-border order served hot and nice. Pick an appetizer, whet your whistle, then listen to the peppers pop, crackle, and sizzle.
But the cecina sealed the deal, a fresh discovery with a mighty fine feel. A little spice, a little sizzle, a smoky, savory heat, thin-cut beef dancing to a skillet beat. A new meat to meet, a treat for me, with Piper keeping rhythm at my feet.
Come for the salsa, stay for the song, order another round and fiesta along.
Peace. Piece. Peas.
