For the first time I’m not happy with Ala Roma I was on hold for almost an hour trying to place a pizza order for pick up. No one answered the phone but I did not hang up I continued to wait till I got an answer and still nothing after about 30-35mins. Also during this time I was driving to the restaurant so I hung up up and called right back and was still holding for another 10-15mins till I walked through the doors and then I got turned away and told that because of how slow it was they closed the kitchen down early, mind I had been calling since about 9-9:15and I walked through the doors around 9:40ish. I am very upset because this was like my normal routine Thursday nights after work I’d run and grab pizza but not tonight.

When in Fond du Lac, do as the Romans do. Or at least do what I imagine they’d do if somebody rolled a beautiful pizza in front of them: grab a slice, raise it high, and shout, “Mama mia, pass-a the pizza!” Welcome to Ala Roma, where dough meets show, sauce gets tossed, cheese says please, and supper rolls round in one glorious Italian circle. The crust carries the cargo, the sauce brings the zing, and bubbling cheese blankets the whole beautiful thing. Slice it, spice it, top it just right, then send that pie into the oven and let heat work its delight. Pepperoni curls, sausage swirls, mushrooms mingle while mozzarella melts. Add peppers, onions, olives, or whatever your pizza-loving heart desires. Keep it simple or pile it higher, because a naked little crust is merely a canvas awaiting its cheesy attire. But pizza isn’t the only pasta-bility. Twirl a noodle, fork a forkful, chase the sauce around the plate. Italian comfort comes in many shapes, sizes, sauces, slices, and delicious devices, so arrive hungry and leave your belt prepared to negotiate. Then there’s the pub side of the equation. Sip with your slice, toast with your roast, clink a glass and stay awhile. Good grub, good company, pizza and pasta, all wrapped together with a little Fond du Lac flair. So when your stomach starts speaking Italian, follow the aroma to Ala Roma. Grab a chair, share a pie, twirl some noodles, sip something cold, and give that hungry dairy-air somewhere comfortable to sit. Peace. Piece. Peas. Pizza. Pasta. Please. Mr. E & Justin Thyme

I have been to Ala Roma a few times, and loved it. Due to how good the food has been, I took my husband and 2 friends on 8/15. One friend ordered mushroom ravioli, my husband ordered beef. The mushroom meal did not taste right, I tasted it, and confirmed it was beef. When we brought this up to our waitress, she asked to take the plate to the kitchen to verify it was mushroom. After taking the plate to the kitchen, she came back and said the kitchen confirmed it was mushroom. While yes this was technically correct, it was absolutely mixed with beef. Since there were some mushroom ravioli, we think they were mixed together when cooking or serving on accident. Our friend is a vegetarian and does not eat meat. We did mention this to the waitress. Our friend is too kind to say anything, which is why I am leaving this review. It's not acceptable to serve someone a meal that is incorrect, after being notified. I was also in on 8/12 and the food and waitress that day were incredible! Sadly, I will not be coming back after this weekend.
