  Worst place for WesternUnion they don’t even have somebody for you. You have to wait for a worker to be free and you look at the worker they’re just yapping away and talking to someone and now I’m standing here for 30 minutes.

  Once again a disappointing experience. The meat was misrung and I've been standing at Custer service for 5 minutes with no help in sight. Receipt says I was done at 14 post and it's now 20 after. I miss the Safeway on Mill Plain. Now 22 after and someone acknowledged me.

  I delt with a cashier named Teresa. She was rude, and ignored me. Worse customer service I've ever dealt with in my life. There seems to be some great people there but Teresa is not one of them. The store has broken handles on there fridge doors for over 3 months. My family and I have spent a lot of money there. We definitely should be treated with respect and appreciation. Fire Teresa and the whole vibe would get better at your store.

  The idea of a sandwich is like an icon that represents so much more than simple stuff on bread. It represents lunches made by moms, meals packed for long winding adventures, and maybe even romantic picnics in the park. It is a simple thing, easily elevated through good solid rules and ingredients, yet often diminished and failed by inattention and lack of commitment. I have eaten many Safeway sandwiches over the past 30-40 years and some of them have been sublime from attitude to delivery. They have been carried into battle and they have been packed away for those special moments with friends where you know the earth beneath you is solid and safe. So, often standing with a shiver of anticipation before that panoply of meats and cheeses, onions and gherkins, I find myself just a touch giddy as I gaze on the puzzle of my repast. So today at this Safeway, I tasted the bitter tears of a totally mediocre sandwich. “What kind of bread would you like?” I answer, focaccia, and am told, sorry, we don’t have any. I ask for panini and am told, we don’t have any. I know they stopped carrying the good rye, in fact I don’t see options for rye at all. I should have stopped right there before throwing myself into the abyss of sadness. The lettuce had seen better days, reminding me in that stainless cooling bowl of sad deflated green balloons left by children who have missed the birthday party. One seeks a touch of crunch there, a little freshness and structure added to the sandwich in the same way the architect arranges the landscaping. The tomato were thin sliced floppy bits of red that looked to be aging out of the childhood protection services system. They reminded me of the thin pink goo that forms on the top of your strawberry jello when left too long in the refrigerator. The tomato adds something essential to the good sandwich. It is the almost sweet balance of the meat and mayo. The light in the wilderness. Here however it is was only sadness, so thin, so stingy, so old as to be an insult to the sandwich gods. The mayonnaise was squirted on in lumps and squiggles and then left where it fell, like the sea foam that sometimes drifts to shore in long lines across the beach. No effort to rub it around a little, to make it venture to the edges of the sandwich as m, if like early settlers someone feared it might fall off the sides. That means of course you get bites of dry sandwich since the tomato was not up to the duty of providing much moisture. The bread, white, which definitely the last choice I would have made, seemed stale and lonely. Like biting into the memories of old math tests in 5th grade, where it is just occurring to you that you might not get to be a super hero when you grow up. It was roundly and profoundly a mediocre sandwich in every way, not even cut in half, in which case I could have for a moment forgotten it was a sandwich and pretended it was a woman in a magic box. It is not that Safeways cannot make good sandwiches, I lived on them for years. It is operator error, it is attitude. If you go to a place regularly, you learn to keep an eye out for who the good sandwich makers are, the ones who didn’t check out on their second month, the ones who remember they are making people food, not just walking through the motions until they can flee the premises. It’s literally like they have forgotten the point. Why, would you put that lettuce and tomato on a sandwich? Are you working by braille? I mean of course we all have our issues with Safeway, like when you buy a heavily discounted item only to realize it’s about the price you would pay at a competing store. But the sandwich issue is one that could so easily be changed. It’s a training issue. It’s management not caring. And it’s long time customers going elsewhere.
