  This is worst grocery store. The bakery department’s quality has dropped significantly over the years. Items that are stale and or expiring left on the shelves. Fewer items actually baked in store and poorly maintained displays. The fresh produce is significantly overpriced vs other stores. Yesterday I saw a honeydew melon for $8 when Whole Foods had an organic one for only $4. The store in general is extremely cramped. Two carts can barely pass each other. The poor folks working there (to no fault of their own) seem miserable. The prices in this store are out of control. Safeway has a monopoly for food stores in the city of Lakewood and they know it. For some reason this store eliminated all of their hand baskets in favor of full size shopping carts. They do have some of the compact carts but it seems like there are never enough. Who could afford to fill a full size cart with groceries any way? I wish this was literally any other brand of grocery store. If you live in the area you are better off having your groceries delivered from Amazon, it’s cheaper and the quality is higher.

  The best pharmacy location in all of Tacoma. Friendly staff, prompt service, knowledgeable employees, and they answer the phone. Never a problem.

  I had a very negative experience with a young male cashier at the Steilacoom Safeway on Saturday June 27th around 5pm. He was checking out my groceries out and he started talking about his political beliefs without my consent. It was very uncomfortable and I got offended by his comments regarding President Trump. Since I voted for Trump I tried to steer the conversation to a more nuetral subject. He continued on so I felt I was forced to listen to his rant as he was halfway with checking out my groceries. I also had to bag my own groceries because he got distracted when hr stated his tirade about his political beliefs. I felt he was unprofessional and needs to learn at work to keep his political beliefs to himself. I will not if he is working allow him to check out my groceries again.

  Great location. Knowledgeable and friendly employees. Decent price points. The store is well lit and clean.

  They are ok, there prices are high on some things and sometimes reasonable on others but you have to go through this app in order to get any of those savings and you have to basically watch for their screw up because half the time it says it's priced one price but it's priced another and they way they do their supposed savings can be confusing but it's ment to be because your actually getting ripped off anyway by Safeway and you have been for sometime.
