Double check every item you buy to make sure it's properly sealed before you even leave the store. Every frozen bagged item I purchased was unsealed upon going to use it. While yea you can get a refund for the defective items they are selling you, they don't reimburse for fuel and time wasted.spend the extra few dollars and go to yokes and save yourself the return process.

I’ve shopped at this Safeway for years and probably spend $10,000–$15,000 a year there, but I’m done after today. Almost every time I go in there’s some new issue with their automated security systems. The self checkout constantly thinks you’re stealing something and an employee has to come over and clear it, sometimes multiple times in one transaction. The alarms are constantly going off when people are coming or going. And I know how to use a self checkout. I use them everywhere else and this basically never happens. At this Safeway it happens all the time. Today I was standing in the self checkout area, hadn’t even paid yet, and suddenly my cart completely locked up. Apparently they have carts now that automatically lock the wheels if the system thinks you’re trying to leave the store with it. Except I was literally standing at the checkout trying to pay for my groceries. I told the employee that I knew it wasn’t his fault, but I just couldn’t keep dealing with this every time I came in and wasn’t going to shop there anymore. He was actually very understanding. Then the manager told me he’d heard the locking carts were happening everywhere. I said I shop at Yoke’s right next door and I’ve never had this happen there. His response was basically, “Well, Yoke’s doesn’t have the locking carts.” Yeah. That’s my point. I understand that people steal. But maybe the answer is to hire enough employees instead of adding more and more automated systems that constantly hassle the people who are actually paying for their groceries. And just to make the whole thing perfect, I finally walked out of the store and the security alarm immediately started going off because of someone WALKING INTO the store. I’m done. Yoke’s is right next door. They can have my business from now on.
