  We ordered for pick up and had no idea how much food we ordered. I thought I had ordered 2 meals. We had so much food we are on day 2 of eating it! I'm picky and this was by far and away the best Asian food I have ever had!! Absolutely delicious and well worth what I paid. Hillyard really needed a place like this! I will be a regular now and plan to eat in the restaurant next time. Oh yeah, drinks-the honeydew milk tea!!! Yummy.

  My family and I had a really nice dinner here. The menu has an interesting and concice selection with a large variety of milk teas and lots of different tea toppings. I enjoyed my thai tea but my daughter tried boba tea for the first time and didn't care for the tapioca pearls (personal preference). We got fried egg rolls, chicken noodle soup, chicken rice noodles, and sweet fried beef with broccoli. The egg rolls were pretty good and not dripping with oil (thank goodness). The chicken noodle soup was very large and has a lot of veggies in it too. The rice noodle chicken was really good, and we all voted for the fried beef with broccoli as being the best. The interior looks like it had recent improvements and it's simple, clean, and pretty. We sat in the non-bar section where there are quite a few tables but not many booths. The server was great. She was kind, quick, attentive but not overbearing. The only thing I wish was more available was food and drink tailored toward kids. Not necessarily kid menus with puzzles and broken crayons, but simple dishes and drinks. Like literally a bowl of rice, that amazing broccoli, or rice noodles with some butter on them, as an option. Plain milk or chamomile lavender tea or something. Heck, maybe some kids would eat just tapioca balls 😆 We don't need the typical macaroni and cheese or cheeseburger, just maybe a smaller menu with smaller options. Otherwise, I'll definitely go back to see what their clay bowls are all about. Side note- we dined in but there were signs everywhere about ordering online for pickup or delivery (if I remember right) so they might have a strong online ordering presence.

  This was my first time at Black Straw. I ordered two of the same dishes, but due to a communication issue with the server, when the first dish arrived, I realized it wasn’t what I wanted. I asked if the second dish, which hadn’t been served yet, could be changed to the one I actually wanted. The server checked with the kitchen, but my request was refused, and they still insisted on serving the dish I didn’t want. I was very disappointed with the experience.

  Food is fresh and so good. The tangerine beef is popular but the honey walnut chicken was my favorite with a very buttery light flavor. The chicken fried rice was great as well. Price is fair for the portion size compared to others in the area that dont taste nearly as good. My new favorite spot. Please dont change anything.

  We're first-time customers and instant fans! Super easy online ordering and our takeout was piping hot and ready to go at the time given. We both ordered chicken: Szechuan and sweet & sour. Both were so delicious with generous portions, addictive sauces, and a nice variety of perfectly cooked veggies along with tender bites of chicken. We're so excited this place opened up near us and cannot wait to go back and try the crispy tangerine beef! Update: Tangerine beef was amazing! Tangy citrus sauce with sweet heat, tender beef and charred broccoli.. delicious! Our new favorite spot!
