TL;DR: Panera left me sitting at the drive-thru speaker for 15 minutes, admitted they knew I was there, then proceeded to freestyle my order. I fear they forced me into my Karen era. There is no bread on God’s green earth worth this level of tomfoolery. This story is going to make me sound like a Karen, and I totally understand if you think I am one - because every Karen says they don’t usually do this. But I literally never do this. I understand that people have hard days - and the days get harder when you work in fast food where people are frequently ass holes. But bro - they just unlocked unprofessional ass holery of a level only spoken about in the seedy bars and back alleys which no respectable citizen dares enter.. I sat at the intercoms for about 15 minutes with not one single car in front of me, and had already sat in the line for I don’t know how long because I didn’t start looking at the clock yet. If I had to place some sort of measurement it was like 5 or 6 songs - one of them being (for measurements sake) an older Erykah Badu (IYKYK). I honestly just sat at the intercom for so long because I was giving the benefit of the doubt and just thought maybe they didn’t see me there but would at some point, I did try saying hello in car they could hear me (I don’t know how those work). But Once another car came up behind me I didn’t want to keep them waiting - so I drove up to the window. Listen, I had waited so long, and I was not trying to have that wait be for nothing - it’s a matter of principle. So I did it. I was the Karen who knocked on the window. They weren’t hearing me I guess so I knocked harder. The person came and opened the window, seemingly not confused at my presence or purpose - because she simply answered “what can I get for you”. I was still thinking maybe they just have people walk up to the drive through window and this isn’t unusual. Then I told her how long we had been waiting and that someone else was back there - she simply replied “I know”… what. So now I’m angry and it is showing in my tone and face. Ngl, I don’t get to that place often, but when I do there is no mistaking my feelings. I told her we wanted a sandwich and she starts listing off all of the bread she was out of - fine, just put it on a Popeyes biscuit at this point. Then I ask her for a frozen Java and ask her what is on the baked potato - she says bacon, I say no I don’t want it, just give me the sandwich and the frozen Java (again, I have lost manners at this point)- she says “ok, so the frozen Java, the sandwich and the potato soup”… is there even a potato soup?? So nope, the sandwich and the frozen Java like I said. She goes to make the stuff and like 9 minutes later she come with and iced drink. Nope - I wanted the frozen Java. Some other girl comes over and gives me the frozen Java and says “have a good night”, so I’m like “are they not going to give us the sandwich”. I knock on the window again - I’m ignored. So l stand there and wait. I see the one person pouring soup and moving what I think was my sandwich over to the counter near the window, and maybe she didn’t know if was there because she wasn’t wearing glove the whole time and kicked a cup in the ground. So she is filling up the other customers bag and my sandwich is sitting there open faced, hanging out, getting cold. She comes to the window and is like how can I help you? I’m like “am I going to receive my sandwich, she says “it’s in the oven” and leaves I get distracted for a couple a seconds and then she comes back with the sandwich. God bless her soul that she apparently reached into the oven for my sandwich and wrapped it in record time - cause there is no other way that it could have gotten to me so fast having “been in the oven”. Listen, am I proud of myself? Honestly Im not sure yet. Will I ever go back to that Panera again? Not a snow balls chance in hell. I’m not even sure I will go to any Panera again - there is no bread in the world that is worth such tomfoolery. P.s. it was 9/24 at around 6-7. Yeah - imma snitch.

Terrible experience twice in a row; the staff is rude and entitled. Left us sitting at the drive through for 20 minutes and then proceeded to be rude all the way through. I’m in customer service, this is vastly inappropriate

Staff was super friendly and polite which made it all the more upsetting when the grilled cheese I ordered was finished. The food was lukewarm, the bread was soggy and the cheese was dry from being melted open face in a salamander then pressed together. The staff were kind and understanding and processed a refund. Overall fantastic staff service, but food quality lacks.

I placed a mobile order so that I could pick up at the drive thru. When I arrived a worker was placing a chair at the drive thru. I drove around and asked him if it was broken, he said no, he was changing signage. I asked how long that would take and that I was just picking up. He told me about ten minutes. Because it was raining and I had my granddaughter with me I waited ..and waited. Twelve minutes and no one had come back out so I called. I was told it would be ten or twenty minutes. I could wait or come in. So I parked, got my granddaughter out of the car and went in. I told a manager what happened...no apology or explanation of any kind, just gave me my order and said have a good day. I'll never come back. I am so over poor service. Not the first time service was sub par but it will be the last.
