We were in the International District, heading to our favorite Chinese place and saw a "new" sushi place. We have not been to Sushi % Ayce before. The server who sat us was very grumpy, explained things quickly, and went away. We were a little confused but figured it out. We ordered a spicy tuna roll, California roll, a spicy tuna with eel on top, an eel and avocado roll, edamame, and tempura vegetables. We also ordered yellowtail sashimi and nigiri. The sashimi and nigiri were fishy. The spicy tuna was anything but. About halfway through the spicy tuna my husband noticed what looked like bread crumbs. We enquired, and sure enough, there were Panko flakes in the spicy tuna roll. These were not listed on the menu. Being allergic to gluten, I requested a replacement roll and told the server who helped us that it was not listed on the menu. She showed me how I can request no Panko flakes next time. Well, since they weren't listed, it is hard to ask for them to not be there. My daughter reports that the California roll was good. My husband said the tempura was well done. My experience, aside from a very uncomfortable allergic reaction, was that of unfavorable food, warm rice, and fishiness where you least want to taste it. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not be going back. I'm sad I missed out on Chinese tonight.

Would not recommend. Food tastes okay but the rice to fish ratio is terrible. You’re limited to 15 an order every 15 minutes. Only good part is the sashimi is part of ayce but is small.

The waiter charged 20% gratuity and didn’t tell us. I am fine with that but the problem is he stood there with the POS after he ran my card and suggested a tip which I ended up tipping another 20% without knowing he had charged me 20% for gratuity already. He never said a single word. It was only when I was shell shocked my friend who usually tips didn’t tip at all when it was his turn to pay. My friend then looked at me and pointed out he had already charged us for 20% of the bill. The server stood and watch all of this happen in front of him with no shame what so ever on what he just did.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The sushi was pretty decent, flavor was good, they use a decent amount of fish in their rolls and don't skimp like some AYCE places. However... it took forever for us to get the items every time we ordered, but the table next to us, who showed up after we did, were getting order after order very quickly while my son and I waited at an empty table for almost 15 minutes between our first two orders. Several items that we did order never showed up. That's pretty crappy considering you're on a time limit. The buffet food looked good but was not hot, not even warm, but the trays were actively steaming so I'm not sure what was going on. I'm a sucker for a good crab rangoon and they looked delicious, but every single one I grabbed had no filling in it, very disappointing! We paid damn near $40 a person for the dinner, and they charged us extra for a sprite... that was crazy to me!! The booth they put us in was terrible because the people next to us had no spacial awareness and literally kept putting their butt on our table to walk by whenever there was a person or the robot in the way, so that was disgusting! Probably won't be going back.
