This was my first time here and first time trying Salvadorian food. A buddy and I split a large platter and that big cauldron of grilled meats and prawns. Everything was really tasty. Service was friendly. Come hungry!

MI CHALATACA Salvadoran flavor, in Renton! Renton's corner of world now has a growing Central American vibe. From El Salvador, comes Mi Chalatca. Founded in 2004, and hailing from its start in Federal Way, Mi Chalata brings its cuisine from the founders hometown of Chalatenago. It's an every-day cuisine that you will find welcoming Located in the Renton Village Shopping Mall on Grady Way, the space of Mi Chalataca is large, following a tradition of memorable food establishments that have inhabited the space before. The restaurant is bright inside with unobstructed windows that can face the sunset side of the mall. Pretty cool. You walk up to the front counter and greeted by staff that are happy to give you seating options . It is definitely casual dining, but the layout says you definitely may want a seat for what's to come. Large TV screens also welcome you to latest game, or entertainment to set the mood. Now, about the food... We came with a party of five that was definitely hungry and ready for dinner. Good thing we came with empty bellies. We were in for a treat. When seated we were greeted to a thick menu. Always a good sign. For those who need a analogous interpretation of the cuisine, think sit-down Mexican, with cultural and regional additions. These additions will expand your flavor profiles - and do it in a very approachable way. Our party of five started with the Plato Tipico Grande as our appetizer. Two Pupusas, including two tamales, with choice of pork, chicken or sweet corn. This is in addition to three pastelitos de pollo, yucca fries, fried pork, fried ripe plantains, thick tortilla chips, refried beans and cream. And, it was huge. We almost didn't finish it. For the entrees, the favorite was the Pescado Frito - a whole pan fried tilapia with salad. Do you prefer chicken? Try the Pollo Asado - Pan seared chicken strips cooked with tomatoes, onions and bell peppers. Now, if you want to sample everything, splurge just a bit, and order the signature Molcajete Mixto, which included a grilled skirt steak; grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, chorizo sausage, fresh cheese, grilled cactus leaf, and avocado. The presentation was impressive as the Mixto was served in a big lava bowl with spicy roasted pepper sauce. All dishes were served with rice, beans, and handmade, Salvadoran-style tortillas. Yum. Lots of non-alcoholic beverage choices, and definitely lots of freindly staff to make you have a great dining experience. Bring friends and an appetite. You'll come back, and want to try more! Definitely visit Mi Chalataca. #michalataca #michalatacarenton #supportrentoneats

Increíble! If you are driving through the area like I was I recommend this. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. I am Mexican and this was my first time having Salvadoran horchata and I gotta say I like there's way better. The staff was super welcoming and attentive

Flavor bomb in mocajete mixto. The sauce is not actually spicy just flavorful. All the meats are tender and juicy. The hibiscus and passionfruit drinks 🍹 are tasty. Service was great and restaurant so clean and spotless. Can’t wait to go back. Family and date night friendly. I went for lunch and they have the FIFA World Cup games on! Go watch and eat great food
