On 07/18/26, my brother ordered pizza for delivery for my birthday gathering. When the driver arrived, several of us witnessed the interaction.
My brother greeted the driver, identified himself by saying, “I’m Andrew,” and then asked who she was because we had ordered the pizzas for a birthday event and weren’t sure who was delivering them. She responded, “That comment will cost you $60.”
At first, we all thought she was joking, but after an awkward silence it became clear she was serious. The atmosphere immediately became uncomfortable. My brother had already planned on leaving a generous tip because it was my birthday, and despite how awkward the interaction was, he still gave her the $60.
My brother is genuinely one of the kindest people I know, and it was hard to watch him be treated that way. The interaction left him feeling uncomfortable and honestly a little shaken.
I’ve met the owner several times, and he’s always seemed like a good guy. In fact, my brother used to work for this company and always spoke highly of it. That’s what made this experience so disappointing.
After what we witnessed tonight, I honestly believe this was the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. In my opinion, this employee has absolutely no business working in customer service. If this is how she chooses to treat polite, respectful customers, then she should not be representing any business that deals with the public.
One employee managed to ruin what should have been a fun birthday celebration. Every single person at my gathering witnessed the interaction, and every one of us walked away saying the same thing: we’ll never order from this business again. There are too many great local pizza places that know how to treat customers with basic respect.
To make matters worse, the pizza itself was disappointing. The bottom of the pizza and the entire bottom of the box were soaked with grease.
I genuinely hope the owner takes this seriously. If he believes this is an acceptable way to treat paying customers, then I have no doubt he’ll continue losing business. This wasn’t just poor service—it was one of the most disrespectful customer service experiences I’ve ever witnessed, and I won’t be giving this business another chance.
One more thing I work in customer service. I am not a Karen. My brother and I are extremely polite to anybody anybody who works in the Customer service industry because we know what it’s like.
We treat people with respect, but we also expect the same.
