There is no way the workers couldn't smell it. Whatever it is it needs to be taken care of if it's the seafood department then it needs to be cleaned. I work in the seafood department where I work and we deep clean our cases every week. And for how small your department is compared to mine I don't feel there is any excuse for it to ever smell like that.

If you have a dirty job and just got off work you’ll be followed, ran to get some food after cleaning your house all day so your dressed in clothes that could get ruined, for sure being followed. Might have a cop outside waiting for you too. And having all the employees stare at you while walking out is super embarrassing and awkward. So you should probably drive to another store.
