Total Operational Failure and Defensive Management
I used to live in this area and rarely frequented this location due to service issues. Now that I am back temporarily, I figured that after 10 to 15 years, things might have improved. They haven't. The operations are still completely broken, and today's management actively defends the incompetence instead of fixing it.
I pulled into the dual-lane drive-thru. There was one car in each lane. The car in front of me finished and pulled away, so I pulled up to the speaker of the newly empty lane. When I said hello, the employee told me, "Just a moment," claiming they needed to cash someone out.
Because they prioritized cashing someone else out over simply starting my order, it created an immediate bottleneck. Within 30 to 60 seconds, the car in the adjacent lane finished and pulled ahead. Instantly, a new vehicle pulled into that lane, and the employee over there immediately started taking their order.
I started speaking up, saying, "Hello? The other line is about to completely skip me." I got no response. I had to sit there and listen to this new vehicle place a massive, multi-part, never-ending order.
Think about how absurd this is: if you walked into the lobby and stood at the counter, a cashier would never look directly past you to take the order of a person who just walked through the front door behind you. That is exactly what happened in this drive-thru. By taking that massive order first, they didn't just delay me—they completely forced me into a bottleneck. Even if they finally took my order, I would now be trapped in line waiting for the kitchen to cook a mountain of food for the person who just cut in front of me.
Once that car finished their massive order and pulled ahead of me, I backed out, parked, and went inside.
I stood at the front counter for several minutes in an empty lobby with no one at the registers. When a worker finally walked up, I demanded to speak to a manager. Instead of taking accountability for a broken system, the manager immediately came over and started making pathetic excuses for why the lines were screwed up and why I was ignored.
To put their complete lack of urgency into perspective: The person who pulled up after me in the drive-thru, who placed the massive order, had already driven to the window and received their food before anyone inside even attempted to take my order at the counter.
When I refused to accept her garbage excuses for terrible service, she had the audacity to tell me to leave. Years ago, a manager at this location would have apologized and handled it. Today's management just defends a broken culture and substandard operations. Avoid this location at all costs.
This McDonald's on Yelm Highway is gross. The floor is sticky and the tables were dirty. I try not to go inside but the drive thru was long, per usual and I just needed 1 happy meal, so I didn't want to spend 20 minutes in the drive thru.
First, let me say that my review is based solely on this one visit!!!
Horrible service!!! This location has a double drive thru but one lane. After waiting 10 minutes to actually order, we were told at the box that they are only doing online orders. Well, there was at least 5 cars in each lane behind us so we had no choice but to wait to get out. Over an hour it took to get out when we didn't even order anything!!! When we got to the window, my husband expressed his frustration and was told "well, it's your fault for waiting!" All my husband said was "you guys should have a sign or someone directing customers on what you have going on." "Not their problem." He was told by the manager as the window was slammed shut.
I'm not sure how the food or service is normally, but last night was terrible.
I have never received McDonalds burritos this small. Charging us more and giving us less.

I had a moment where, I fell asleep on my day off early and hadn't had dinner yet. I woke up at 1230 in the morning, so I decided to half put myself together and order two cheeseburgers from this McDonald's. Just two cheeseburgers. I then heard loud music playing from inside the McDonald's, while paying at the first window. The young lady at the first window was acting strange but she did end up saying to have a nice day and I said thanks and for her to have a nice day too. The second window, no one was around for about 2 mins, then a woman came and handed me a small bag with two cheeseburgers, she said here you go and said have a nice day. I pulled around and parked and pulled out a cheeseburger. It was cold and didn't smell good. I took a bite and the bun was hard as a rock. Upon inspection, the hamburger patty was solid black and cold, the cheese wasn't melted at all and there were only traces of ketchup inside the bun. I opened the second burger and same thing, only I was starving and I can't walk into the store to get new ones, so I ate half of the second burger and instantly regretted it. I drove home and called the manager. He didn't have much to say, he didn't apologize, he didn't ask any questions, he only said ok. That's all he would say is ok. A few hours after getting home, unable to go to sleep, I started throwing up the contents of my stomach. So I left a complaint with the corporation and I saved what's left of the burgers in a ziplock in the freezer, in case my condition turns for the worse. I am so disappointed with society these days. It really feels very personal, like a personal attack on me, to hurt me and potentially kill me. I know it's not, it's just foolish bad behaviour.
