On my first visit, I waited over 11 minutes for my dine-in order. I went to the counter to ask about it. The cashier had his back to me, was wearing headphones, and was training another employee. After saying “Excuse me, sir” three times, I finally had to raise my voice to get his attention. My food was already sitting out of the heated window directly in front of him waiting for condiments, with two other dine-in orders ahead of mine also waiting. I told him he could either hand me my single box without the condiments or give me a refund. As he reached for my food, Dawson walked out of the kitchen. Since he appeared to be the manager, I asked if he was. When he said yes, I asked whether Chick-fil-A was intentionally discouraging dine-in customers because drive-through orders seemed to be moving about ten to one while dine-in customers were waiting over 15 minutes. Drive-through cars were consistently getting through in around five minutes, while my order would likely have taken over 15 minutes had I not gone to the counter. A few moments later, Dawson brought me a complimentary brownie and spent roughly 30 minutes explaining Chick-fil-A’s policies and procedures. My point, however, was simple: instead of explaining the process to me, I believed his attention should have been on the dining room, where numerous customers were still waiting for food, and on reducing ticket times. I repeatedly asked what had failed in the process to allow a 15-minute dine-in ticket time and what corrective action would be taken. I never received a clear answer. Today I returned, this time using the drive-through. As expected, I received my food in about five minutes. I parked outside and watched the dine-in orders continue to take well over 15 minutes while the drive-through kept moving quickly. While I was eating, Dawson came outside, sat down next to me, and told me that if I “did that again,” I would be trespassed. I wasn’t being disruptive, I wasn’t causing a scene, and I wasn’t confronting employees. I was simply observing the difference in service between dine-in and drive-through customers. The most disappointing part of this experience wasn’t the wait time—it was being threatened with trespass after respectfully raising a legitimate concern about customer service. I’m hoping the owner or regional management reviews the security footage from both visits. I believe it will show exactly what occurred and whether this interaction reflects the level of professionalism Chick-fil-A expects from its managers. Rob Lee
