I’ve given the McDonald’s on Mission Street in Wenatchee multiple chances, and unfortunately the customer service continues to be some of the worst I’ve experienced at any fast-food restaurant. The employees seem far more interested in talking to each other and focusing exclusively on the drive-thru than helping the customers standing directly in front of them at the counter.
On nearly every visit, I’ve stood at the register while multiple employees looked right at me and simply ignored me. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve had 5 to 10 employees walk past or stare in my direction without a single person saying, “Hi,” “We’ll be right with you,” or even acknowledging that I exist. I usually have to wave my hands or repeatedly say “Excuse me” just to get someone’s attention so I can place an order or a pickup. That should never happen at any business, especially one representing a major company like McDonald’s.
What makes the experience even worse is the complete lack of basic courtesy. No hello, no thank you, no smile, no “have a nice day.” Employees often just hand over the food and immediately walk away without saying a word. It feels cold, dismissive, and incredibly disrespectful to customers who are spending their money there.
The bigger issue is clearly management. When employees consistently act disengaged, unhappy, and indifferent toward customers, that reflects poor leadership and a workplace culture that is not being managed properly. Customer service standards appear nonexistent here, and it’s obvious nobody is holding staff accountable for treating people with basic respect and dignity.
I understand fast food can be stressful and busy, but acknowledging customers is the absolute minimum expectation. A simple greeting or even eye contact goes a long way. Instead, this location makes customers feel like an inconvenience. Until management seriously addresses employee attitudes and customer service, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
