This is a very overdue review, but a recent experience my friend had at another restaurant reminded me of something I still can’t forget. We are both Asian, and we both experienced what felt like racial discrimination at different restaurants. That day, I arrived early for lunch with a friend. Right before me, two ladies who appeared to be non-white asked if there were tables available and were told only bar seating was available at the moment. Then it was my turn, and I was told the same thing — only the bar. But I could clearly see two empty tables near the entrance. I pointed at one, and the host told me it would later be combined with another table for a larger party. So I assumed the other empty table was also unavailable and went to sit at the bar. The bar area is deep inside the restaurant, so once I sat down there, I could no longer see the entrance area. About two minutes later, my friend texted me saying she had arrived. I walked back out toward the entrance and saw her already seated at the exact other table I had noticed earlier. I asked if she had a reservation. She said no. For context, my friend is a blonde, blue-eyed white lady. I arrived earlier, and that table was already empty when I walked in. Yet I was directed to the bar while she was immediately offered a table. Combined with how the two women before me were treated, I think I have a reasonable right to question whether race played a role here. I honestly wanted to ask the host directly why I had been denied that exact table earlier, but I didn’t want to create an awkward situation or make my friend uncomfortable, so I stayed quiet. But clearly, this experience stayed with me for a long time. Seattle is often seen as a highly educated, democratic, and open-minded city. That’s exactly why experiences like this — happening to both me and my friend at different restaurants — feel especially disappointing, uncomfortable, and unsettling.

Highly recommend the Nordstrom Grill's happy hour at Bellevue Square. They do a great hamburger with everything on it, and they have an excellent bartender who makes a good drink. My wife had an order of 4 delicious meatball in a sauce with crostini which she stated they were as good or if not better than any Italian restaurant in the area. Their fries are great as well, but today the machine was broken so they offered a very nice salad as a substitute. Great service, the waiter knew he was in the hospitality business. We'll go again soon. Nice wine and bubbly on the happy hour menu.

I went in with my husband and two kids on Saturday. We were shopping, and my daughter wanted something to eat, so we decided to dine there. We ordered mac and cheese and a grilled cheese for the kids. We found a piece of green bean in the mac and cheese, and when I asked the server about it, she said that other kids’ meals include green beans and that it must have ended up in the mac and cheese by accident. There was no apology. At that point, we had already returned the grilled cheese because it was burnt. The second time they brought it out, it was slightly better but still burnt, and my son refused to eat it. We ordered a burger and fish and chips for ourselves, and those were okay. Overall, the food quality and customer service were poor. We were very disappointed.

I dine at Nordstrom two times in a month. It’s a bit hit or miss on some dishes were flavorful and well-prepared, while others fell flat and lacked seasoning. Like A bit hit or miss. Some dishes like the lobster mac and cheese and Nordstrom cheeseburger were flavorful and well-prepared, but others lacked seasoning and fell flat. Overall, decent variety, but inconsistent quality.
