- JJJoJul 15, 20261.0Fred (they guy working in the self checkout section) constantly leans on the end self-checkout kiosk with his arms crossed, treating it like his own personal space. He is physically blocking the kiosk and actively interfering with customers trying to use it. When I try to use the machine, he refuses to move out of the way. He also has a habit of leaning directly into my personal space and standing over me. It is incredibly uncomfortable to deal with this kind of passive-aggressive, creepy behavior. Customers should not have to deal with an employee blocking the equipment and invading their personal space just to buy groceries. This is not an isolated incident, but part of a continuous pattern. He is consistently rude and unhelpful whenever asked for basic assistance—whether it is a simple question about finding an item or needing help at the register. He routinely acts dismissive and put out, making it clear he has no interest in actually helping customers. Safeway is typically a great, friendly place to shop with a wonderful team, but Fred’s behavior is a massive exception. Customers deserve to feel comfortable, safe, and respected when checking out, and this ongoing issue needs to be properly addressed. I will continue to document and report every single instance of this behavior to Safeway Corporate, and I will escalate reports regarding local management’s response if this is not resolved immediately. This is a persistent issue, and I will not stop flagging it until the environment is safe and professional for everyone.
