I have to get a monthly injection at the pharmacy. They do a good job processing me quickly.

The bathroom has a code on it. Good job... also I like the deli sandwiches. Make sure to use your app for the weekly discounts.

Maryanne was so amazing and helpful. I have a hard time with the digital coupons and she was so patient and gracious and that woman deserves a raise! What a gem!
Edit to add:
Another amazing employee who helped me while he was on his break. Tom from produce was so kind and helped me bring my groceries to my car after my cart locked up. Thank you so much Tom!

My problem is less with this Safeway specifically, although this particular experience was the biggest pain I've had at a grocery store in a long time.
Whoops, forgot a cart. Better go back... oh, i'm being told i can't due to security. Have to go around. Okay...
Every cart option felt like it had square wheels. Okay...
I'd like some raspberries. Okay, for the sale price you have to download an app. Okay... No, I don't want notifications from Safeway. No, I don't want to share my location. I just want these raspberries for $4 instead of $10. Whoops, accidentally scanned something else with my camera. How do I undo that? Crap.
Self checkout. Do you want to fight cancer today? Do you want to round up today? Do you want this automaton female robot voice to loudly announce every single purchase and price savings? Did you clip the deals on the app? Did you enter your phone number? Bring up the QR code on your phone and scan that to get this other deal. Oh, it's not the same phone number? Oh, well you're going to have to ring everything thing up again. Please wait while I get assistance. Yes, it's going to scream every single price and savings at you all over again. If you want, you can change your phone number in the app so next time when you clip the digital deal the member price will sync with your blood type and the algorithm will optimize your experience using AI and....
STOP! JUST STOP, PLEASE!
This isn't progress and it isn't convenient. It's a horrible, frustrating user experience where you are coerced and shaken down for your Metadata, phone number, email, location, and you feel as though you are getting robbed if you don't participate. I don't want to be in a club or download apps. I want my damn groceries. I'd prefer a cart that is quiet and a cashier that says hello how are you, then takes my money and I leave.
Sorry, Auburn Safeway. You've gone too far. The people were very helpful and friendly, but this was not the experience or the future I want. It's akin to being asked to tip everywhere I go. Enough is enough.
