  Customer Complaint – Inappropriate Treatment and Refusal to Accept Puerto Rico Driver’s License “My Puerto Rico driver's license is not a foreign ID. Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, and Puerto Rico driver's licenses are official government-issued identification. Virginia law specifically recognizes government-issued identification and expressly references driver's licenses issued by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in its alcohol-related statutes. I also felt extremely disrespected by the way I was treated, especially as an active-duty member of the United States Army. I should not have been made to feel embarrassed or as though my identification was somehow less legitimate simply because it was issued by Puerto Rico. I serve this country, and I expect to be treated with the same basic respect afforded to any other customer presenting valid government-issued identification. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was being told in front of the other customers in line that my ID would be accepted “this time” because the cashier felt sorry for me. I found that comment extremely disrespectful and humiliating. I understand and respect the responsibility employees have to verify identification before selling alcohol. However, questioning the validity of my identification simply because it was issued by Puerto Rico, rather than seeking clarification from a supervisor or properly verifying the applicable policy, was inappropriate. I am asking Food Lion to please review this incident, clarify its policy regarding Puerto Rico driver's licenses with the employees at this location, and address the way this situation was handled. I would appreciate a formal response regarding this matter.”

  Don't know her name but the Asian lady at cashier is incredibly rude. No need to raise your voice twice at me that conveyor belt doesn't work when I heard you the first time. Was separating orders in hand basket and she tapped the table at me rushing me. Very unprofessional

  Wonderful place to shop. Great prices and staff. A worker Kiki always knows what I want right when I walk in. Very knowledgeable with products and always service with a smile. A lot of places could learn something from her. This girl should get a raise, she definitely should be a keeper. She makes my mornings a little easier. Thanks Food Lion

  I went to the store yesterday around 5:45PM. The store was busier than normal. I was purchasing 4 items and went to the express lane. There was a gentleman checking out, a woman in front of me, and two men behind me. Then a store employee, SAMONE, yelled out guys there are other lanes open then starts to say the lanes. Lane 2, Lane 4, Lane 5 are all open so I don't know why all of y'all are in this lane. Mind you the woman in front of me had two items. All the other lanes are full with people with a cart full of groceries. I love this Food Lion but I don't want to be yelled at because Samone (who isn't even on any register) feels inconvenienced from people with 12 items or less being in the only 12 items or less lane. I will change my one star review once someone talks to Samone about her unprofessionalism.
