My husband & I have come to Raggin Reef twice and both times we really enjoyed the seafood. Both times I've gotten their crab cakes & so enjoyed them. They don't put much fillers into the crab cake which I've found alot of other seafood places do. My husband got their jumbo shrimp on our 1st visit & on 2nd visit he got their buttered scallops & enjoyed both as well. Our waitress was very nice both times & service was tops too. We highly recommend going for a great seafood dinner!

Good food. Out booth was HOT! Sun baked us while we ate and blinded one side of the table. Mentioned to staff they needed a shade. Food was really good. Recommend, but sit away from front windows in the evening.
I would like to share the experience I had tonight, I came in for the scallops I had when we came during the launch because they were amazing, those aren’t on the menu anymore so I settled for the scallops Norfolk , which they ended up being out of…fair enough that happens, okay well I don’t want fish or chicken, or the steamed shrimp/crab so I guess I’ll go with the stuffed shrimp with lemon butter sauce for $29 I also had the mixed green salad My boyfriend got the crab legs and shrimp special
The salad was tasty (I had to ask for the ranch that the menu advertised because it came out with a vinaigrette) but I think it was overpriced for the size and ingredients. Our meals came out and I had 3 very very overcooked, rubber shrimp with some flavorless crab and no sauce. I asked for the lemon butter and I was told that the menu had a misprint and that it was supposed to say cocktails sauce, but she brought me some lukewarm lemon butter and I tried it but it made nothing better, still overcooked and inedible especially for $30, they asked if I wanted anything else but in looking at the menu, the only thing I was interested in was crabcakes but at $25 for one and $45 for 2, I just couldn’t see paying that especially if it was made with the same crab that was in the shrimp and had no flavor, and I was already so frustrated that I just stuck with fries, the crab legs and shrimp was very good except for the butter that came with it was rancid and the texture of pudding
I asked for the manager (which should have been automatic that she come over since so many things went wrong) and I was hoping that I would at least be apologized to, but instead I was met with defensiveness, basically what more do you want from me I took it off the bill and she asked if you wanted anything else, now that is true, she did ask that but what I wanted they didn’t have, what I settled for they were out of and what I ended up with was extremely overcooked, I really just wanted someone who cared that I had a bad time that MAYBE would win me over to come back in and not post this review to Google, but that is not at all what I got.
I let the manager know that I only wanted to let her know what my experience was and she blew me off and while walking away thanked me for my COMPLAINTS (not feedback), which is a hurtful and cold thing to say to someone
I will say our waitress was kind, and I in turn tipped her on what the bill would have been, because this is 100% a management issue
It’s highly unlikely we will be back, and unfortunately I don’t think, based on the response I got from the manager, that this “small town” business much cares if the locals come back in and that makes me sad!
I love seafood, but this is NOT the place to go for good seafood. It is generally a fast-food seafood restaurant.
I went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago to check it out, hoping to find a good seafood restaurant. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out well.
To begin with, the menu is extremely limited.
The waitress was fairly shy and quiet. I ordered the fish and chips basket and a beer (hard alcohol not available). The food came out quickly. The serving size was adequate, certainly not large.
The fish looked like pre-made frozen fish fillets, and the fries were frozen, not fresh-cut. Unfortunately, the fish had a faint chemical smell along with a slight chemical taste.
The fries were okay, but could have been cooked longer to achieve a golden color and a crispy exterior.
I could only tolerate about half of the meal. I asked for my check, which the waitress brought to me. I left a $6.00 tip on the table and paid my $22.95 check at the counter, which I thought was the proper place.
HERE'S WHERE THINGS GET INTERESTING...
I really wanted this restaurant to be good because I enjoy seafood, so I decided to give it a second chance.
I went back a few days ago. I walked inside and saw my next-door neighbor and his wife. I said hi to them and sat down at a table.
A lady, who didn't identify herself, walks up to me (who I believe was a manager) and tells me that I have to leave, and I am not allowed to ever come back.
I was shocked and thought that it was a joke or something. I asked her why, and she told me that I hadn't paid my bill the last time I was there. I told her that she was mistaken because I always pay my bills. I pulled my cell phone out and even showed her the transaction on my Truist Banking app.
All she kept saying was that I only paid $6.00 that I left on the table. I informed her numerous times that the $6.00 was the waitress's tip. I repeatedly told her that the $6.00 left on the table was the tip for the waitress, and then paid my bill at the counter, along with showing her the completed bank transaction and details. She would not stop saying that I only left $6.00 on the table for the bill.
Then she starts telling me that I am not allowed to pay at the counter, due to something she tried to explain, but I didn't understand what she was saying. I tried to ask her then, why did they accept the payment to begin with? I again attempted to show her the transaction on my Truist app, but none of that seemed to matter to her... SHE JUST KEPT TELLING ME TO LEAVE, OR SHE IS GOING TO CALL THE POLICE.
THIS PLACE OWES ME AN APOLOGY FOR EMBARRASSING ME IN FRONT OF MY NEIGHBORS AND ACCUSING ME OF SOMETHING THAT I DIDN'T DO OR WOULD NEVER DO. UPDATE: IT HAS BEEN APPROXIMATELY A MONTH SINCE I ATE HERE, AND I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED AN APOLOGY OR ANY MESSAGES FROM ANYONE, THIS RESTAURANT ACCUSED ME OF COMMITTING A CRIME AND NO ONE HAS THE DECENCY TO APOLOGIZE... WHAT A DEPLORABLE RESTAURANT AND STAFF!
