Came for dinner late on a Friday after a day at Busch Gardens, visiting from out of town. There was no wait for us to be seated, and the service was quick and attentive. The food was amazing - some of the best Mexican food I've had in the U.S!!! I'd come back to Williamsburg just to enjoy more dishes. Thank you!

Great food, generous portions, and excellent service. The carne asada was cooked perfectly, and the horchata was delicious. Definitely a place I’d come back to!

Today this restaurant discriminated against me because I came with a service dog. To set the stage: I have a disability. My 4-yo Golden Retriever service dog has medical documentation and was trained by a professional. He works with me and has attended many meetings and conferences. He's traveled by plane many times. He often goes to church. He's eaten at hundreds of restaurants with me. He is very well behaved. Today: I arrived with my husband and toddler for a late lunch. The hostess said she wouldn't seat us until she called her manager. While on the phone with him, she then requested I show her the service dog's certification card. I told her I didn't have one. I said that there are no legitimate certification cards, if she'd seen one it was fake, and that the ADA doesn't have certification cards. She then asked where his vest was. I said it was raining so I didn't put it on him. I asked if she was refusing to seat my family. She said she was not refusing, the manager was refusing. I asked her name and she didn't give it to me. I asked to speak to the manager. She said he's not here. My husband asked for the manager's contact information. She said she'd write it down. Minutes later the alleged manager, Omar, showed up. He doubled down, informing me that service dogs are usually fake and make other customers uncomfortable and the other customers were more important than my service dog. I tried to explain the law to him. He interrupted me. He didn't appear to care about the law. I told him I would file a complaint with the DoJ. He continued to justify his position. We left. The entire time this situation was happening my service dog laid quietly by my feet. He did nothing wrong to justify this treatment or judgement. At the end of the day I'm a reasonable and educated person. Everyone is allowed their opinion on service dogs, but the law is the law. Full-disclosure: I very much dislike "fake" service dogs. It makes life harder for those of us with diagnosed disabilities to have legitimate service dogs. I understand it's frustrating for restaurants and shops to deal with illegitimate service dogs. Bottom line: shame on this restaurant staff for making me cry and feel ashamed of my disability. Shame on you for disobeying the law. Shame on you for refusing to feed my toddler who was hungry. I hope you educate yourselves on the law and never discriminate against a disabled person again. Do better. Photos: "manager Omar" speaking at me, and some examples of my service dog other places like the airport, dining, work, and church.
