  We’ve used pickup at this Food Lion through Instacart every week for about two years, and the experience is consistently bad. Almost every time, we wait in the pickup spot for a long period, see no movement on our order, and then have to go inside and hunt someone down to bring out our groceries. Yesterday was particularly bad. I was the only car waiting for about ten minutes while the Instacart app showed that someone was gathering our order. Another car pulled up after I’d waited ten minutes. When I went inside to ask about my order, the Food Lion To Go employee said she would grab it. I walked around the store for a few minutes then saw a full cart in the To Go area, assumed it was mine, and went back to my car. Instead of bringing that order to me, they rolled it out to the customer who had arrived ten minutes after I did. When I asked how that person got their order first, the employee told me, “It doesn’t work that way, you two ordered from different apps.” As a customer, that feels like being told I’m an inconvenience because I used the “wrong” app. I don’t use the Food Lion app because of the per‑order fee; Instacart+ is cheaper for weekly orders and works at many stores. I should not have to pay extra per order just to be treated with basic urgency and respect. On top of that, when I went back inside to confirm my order was even being worked, I got attitude from the attendant for being understandably frustrated. After two years of weekly business, I’m now planning to take my orders to a store that doesn’t treat Instacart pickup customers like a problem to be pushed to the back of the line.

  I frequent this food lion and have never had a problem until today. i wish i got the cashiers name but my receipt says cashier:0138. i go to her with my five year old in hand and he’s banging on the wall but not touching merchandise or anything and the cashier asks me if he has behavior problems. i said no he has autism. she said oh that’s kind of what i meant but didn’t want to say that. anyways, the staff here needs sensitivity training bad because that is not the same thing and incredibly disrespectful. definitely going to avoid her next time i go

  I purchased an 8 piece dark chicken yesterday and it was horrible. First time I’ve ever experienced bad chicken at this location, usually it’s very good. You could tell it was old. It tasted like chicken they usually pack and sell as cold food in the deli. And they dumped it in a box and placed it in the area where the hot chicken is sold. I knew it was cold chicken because when I bit in to it, it was cold to the bone. When the chicken is fresh, I can let it sit on my counter before I eat it and it’s not cold to the bone. It’s room temperature all the way through. Guess I won’t be purchasing chicken from here again. Do better deli and Food Lion!
