  This store does have an automated cashier, but the machines still seem to rely on legacy system. Workers can't really help with the new things, so it's best to stick to the old payment methods for reliability. Crypto payment didn't work, but Google Pay worked.

  I have a visceral loathing for Giant - both this location and the one over on BCP. I cannot fathom why you would go here when there are multiple Safeways that have sensical layouts, a diverse stock, and patrons who are not unhinged. This particular location got the worst of it, it seems - the people who shop here are NOT people you want to make eye contact with, and I couldn't find practically anything I usually get from Safeway.

  Very disappointing and offensive experience this morning. I’m a regular Giant customer, and I had a very unpleasant experience at the self-checkout around 8:00 a.m. I was the only customer checking out, and the employee at the self-checkout was standing there watching me. I had already completed my purchase, but then realized I had forgotten a item. I went back to get it and returned to the checkout area less than five minutes later to pay for it. At that point, she pointed at the bag of carrots underneath my cart and asked, “Did you pay for the carrots?” It wasn’t the question itself that upset me—it was the accusatory tone she used. She was not politely asking for clarification; she spoke to me as if she had already assumed that I had not paid. I found that extremely offensive and disrespectful. If her job is to monitor the self-checkout, how could she not remember whether I had already paid for the carrots when I was the only customer checking out and she had been standing there watching me? It honestly made me question whether she was properly doing her job. I completely understand the need to make sure customers pay for their items. But there is a respectful way to do that. Customers should not be made to feel like they are being accused of stealing, especially by an employee whose job is to monitor the checkout process. As a regular customer, I felt humiliated, offended, and disrespected by this interaction. I hope Giant takes this seriously.
