  We love Mama Maria's. Service is always delightful (Suzy is a spark of sunshine) and the food is so good! The desserts are all so amazing too! Homemade cheesecakes and house made gellato. Wow!

  I'm sad to find out in person that this res has gone far down hill. It used to be a fav of mine! Now I would not recommend it. The buffet used to be fantastic. On this day it was hardlly edible. Pizza was not cooked enough for cheese to melt. Pizza was lukewarm on buffet table. The salad bar used to be great. Now it is very! Limited. Some lettuce was brown. The chicken picatta was just small pieces of thin chicken breast and the whole dish was floating in some kind of watery broth. Not good. Pasta salad wS very skimpy on the add ins. Too bad this place is not what it used to be. Bathroom cabinet in ladies room needed to be repaired. Wait staff not that attentive. We're on the lookout now for a new fav Italian place!

  Ordered a Sicilian pizza. The order came out with pepperoni instead of sausage. Our server apologized and had the topping fixed. The pizza was very thick, which we liked,but a bit under cooked towards the center. The pricing was very reasonable for what we got. Our server, Alfredo, was very polite and attentive. We were very happy with his service. However, as we were being seated, another employee (we guessed a manager or supervisor) came out of the kitchen yelling and scolding another server. It was very loud and everyone could hear. It was almost enough to make us leave, but we stayed. Later during our dinner, we could overhear this same woman on the phone with a customer ordering, becoming annoyed and rolling her eyes in front of customers waiting to pay and diners in the restaurant. Her very unprofessional behavior definitely killed the atmosphere.

  Want to know why the pizza is so good at Mamma Maria's? Because the owner/chef is from South Jersey! And Jersey knows its pizza! Mamma Maria's is the pinnacle of Italian food in Roanoke County. The pizza is great. The bakery is great. The service is great. Any time I find myself driving down I-81, I always stop at Mamma Maria's. And you should, too.

  First time visit, I found the food to be everything that people are talking about. Very Italian and delicious. The Waitresses were very attentive, and could not be nicer. I must say however, that the decor and atmosphere is a bit lacking. It just doesn’t match the Italian smell. The table, chairs, and booths, do not flow well together. The buffet is located across the dining room opposite side of the kitchen. The kitchen staff have to cross through the dining area to maintain the food bar. Ceiling tiles are very old looking, with rusty air-conditioning events, overhead. The restaurant doesn’t seem to be hurting for business, therefore one would think there would be resources available for remodeling.
