  I first tried JD's a few weeks ago and I am HOOKED! So far I've had the Classic Club, the Philly Chessesteak, and today I ordered the Nawlins PoBoy with Catfish. I honestly can't even tell you which one is my favorite because they were all amazing! Maybe it's because I can still taste the flavor that was packed in the PoBoy but that one might be my new go-to. I also can't tell you how refreshing it is to be greated and helped by such a nice staff. These days that doesn't go unnoticed by people like me that worked years in the food industry. I also met the owner, JD, who was cooking the food and delivering smiles at the same time. Would 100% recommend JD's to anyone local or visiting the Lynchburg area, you will not be disappointed. You'll probably bump into me there since it's my new favorite spot!

  Ordered a takeout burger, mac and cheese and beans. Burger was good, nicely seasoned and made to order. The bun was soggy, but that's probably due to it steaming in the takeout box - made it slightly difficult to handle, but still tasty, so no complaints there! Nothing groundbreaking but solid overall. 4/5 Beans were also good, maybe slightly too soft to my liking, but well seasoned and tasty. 4/5 Mac and cheese wasn't great - it was watery, the cheese has split and it lacked seasoning. The cheese also didn't taste like anything, and given that the entire thing was rather mushy and not creamy, I stopped eating after a few bites. 1/5 Since it was a takeout, I can't really judge the service other than the short encounter during a pickup - it went great. Overall 9 / 15 - landing at 3 stars from me.

  Our first time to try JDs and it was great. Ribs fell off the bone and probably the best meatloaf I have ever had. Sides were generous and yummy too. And I should add it was ready for carry out before I could drive 15 minutes to pick it up. Looking forward to a new regular stop.

  The greeter was pleasant, free parking was available, indoor and outdoor seating was plentiful, and the premises are clean. The food was disappointing because the Reuben was extremely greasy with tough pastrami, the lemon pepper wings were hard with no flavor, and the salmon cakes were mostly filler not flavorful. Our first visit on a Friday night was ruined. Hopefully, this constructive criticism is taken seriously.

  We ordered takeout from JD’s Cafe. Our order included the classic club on white toast without cheese, a Philly cheesesteak sub with green peppers and grilled onions, onion rings, and green beans as sides. Both sandwiches were delicious and fresh. The bread was not soggy, but the onion rings were not crispy enough when we got home. A quick air fryer session fixed that, and they turned out just right. I highly recommend JD’s Cafe!
