  Always busy. Stinks inside. Very tight aisles and difficult to navigate the store. Short staffed despite being busy, closing registers when there's lines down the aisles.

  I can honestly say I've never walked out of a grocery store and left a cart of groceries until tonight. 1 register open, line all the way to the back of the store. It's the closest grocery store to my house but I'll never be back. How can you have 1 lane open and no self checkout in 2026?

  This is only the 2nd time in my life I have been inside this Food Lion. I was looking for canned apples. The aisle I went down had a worker scanning some of the products I guess to make sure prices were correct....not sure. Anyway, I couldn't go around her as she had a store cart blocking the other side of the aisle. She saw me standing there trying to get through but continued to scan items. She finally stopped and let me through. Never once did she apologize or even ask if I needed help finding anything. Instead, she acted as though I , the customer, was a burden interrupting her. Once I had all my items, I went to the front to a full service register due to the fact I had a WIC card to use for payment for my Grandsons items. Even though the cashier was friendly and helpful, a coworker was talking to her distracting her so badly she messed up my checkout 3 times. The first time she thanked me, handed me my receipt and proceeded to ring the next patron as I proceeded to leave. She calls for me to come back (I was thinking the process ended more quickly than normal) as she never completed my checkout. Then she had to remove the other patrons items from my order. It ended up being 2 more mistakes which occurred due to talking to her coworker. Luckily myself and the young man behind me had patience and kindness despite the happenings.

  Don't come between 3 and 6pm. The lanes are extremely slow and the lines are very long. Its concerning.

  Placed a pickup order for 3/23/26 when I arrive store employee informed me they gave my order to a doordasher even though they knew it was for pickup. Everything on my end and the stores in supported pickup .Groceries were never delivered. They weren't willing to reshop my order refunding it was easier for them. As soon as they refunded my order it canceled via doordash and the Dasher got to keep my groceries. Corporate nor the store manager is able to explain how my order was assigned to doordash. A couple hours later I go to another food Lion to physically shop my order so that I have food in the house since I have kids. Food Lion held my original order amount of $70 for 3 days and I spent an additional$103 in store same day as well. 3/27/26 called store manager to follow up he was unaware of the situation and his stance on the situation was you got your original refund of $70 and that's it. He also hung up on me twice accusing me of yelling at him because I was speaking firmly and he was caught off guard by his staff putting him in this situation with poor communication. Store manager can't explain and wouldn't take ownership for his store or company system switching my order to delivery. They provided my name and address to a random doordasher that they say they don't know who it is or are unable to see who got assigned to deliver the order. If you are a person on a limited income and are unable to spend additional money on groceries you would have been without food and you're money for a few days and this store would care less about your situation let that sink in. I will still shop food Lion but not Hopewell. It is the absolute worst, especially with their long lines in store and zero accountability for issues in their store even ones that they may perceive out of their control. Go to Prince George Food Lion it's worth the extra drive and peace of mind.
