The magical place where a cheeseburger costs $20 and I’m honestly surprised they haven’t installed credit card readers on the toilets yet. We waited about 10 minutes to order from someone who left me so completely baffled by the interaction that I considered it a minor miracle when the order actually came out correct. Then came the wait. “About five minutes.” Thirty minutes later, I had developed a relationship with several strangers, contemplated my life choices, and was beginning to wonder if they were still raising the cow. Here’s what saves this from one star: the burger was excellent. Seriously. Five Guys still makes a damn good cheeseburger, even when obtaining one feels like completing a side quest at the airport. The bigger problem was the chaos behind the counter. There seemed to be very little teamwork, and during our wait we watched multiple employees be unnecessarily rude to customers again and again. Not one bad interaction. It became a pattern. Airport travelers are already tired, stressed, delayed, overcharged and trying to get somewhere. Nobody needs an attitude with their $20 cheeseburger. Management needs to get this team organized and remind everyone that customers aren’t interrupting their day. They’re the reason there’s a counter to stand behind. Great burger. Five-minute wait: fiction. Customer service: apparently an optional topping.
