All you need to do is head down Maddox Blvd. until you come to the lighthouse, and we'll be there, eager to serve you our delicious homemade ice cream. The Island Creamery has been around since 1975 and is family owned and operated. We're proud to base our recipe on an all-natural, premium butterfat mix as well as local fruit for our 32 flavors. Homemade Ice Cream Cakes
Island Creamery ice cream cakes are perfect for any occasion. Our small round (8 inches) serves 8-10. Our large round (10 inches) serves 16-18. Listed below are the ice cream cakes we try to stock at all times. They can be purchased fully decorated at any time or personalized with advance notice. In most instances, custom cakes require 24 hour notice. Call us and we will be more than happy to answer any questions about cake orders.

The portion is very big if you get a single it’s more like a double scoop. It’s definitely a bang for your book. I would recommend coming here and not even talking about how good the ice cream is and I’ll get the waffle cone is those two things are great.

It’s well worth standing in line for! The staff is friendly and they do a great job. My favorite is the marsh mud in a nice, hot made-for-you waffle cone! Don’t be afraid of the line, wait to get this amazing ice cream!

We made it a tradition to try different flavors each night. My favorites were Cherry Jubilee and Pony Tracks, while my fiancé couldn’t get enough of Marsh Mud. One night we decided to try the ice cream cake by the slice, and the Peanut Butter Cup flavor was incredible! If you’re on Chincoteague—or even just nearby—don’t hesitate to stop in. Don’t let the long lines scare you away. They move quickly, and the ice cream is absolutely worth the wait!

The best flavor can change depending on preference, but I don’t think you can go wrong! The Salt Marsh had a rich chocolate flavor with unique salty bits, Almond Joy had a good mix of flavor, and the Pony Tracks was my personal favorite with a vanilla base and chocolate and crunchy bits. The homemade waffle cones were light, slightly crunchy, and easy to enjoy with the ice cream. The wait in line was not long at 3pm and there is seating space indoors. I recommend having an idea of what you want ahead of time because service is quick; although, don’t be afraid to ask about the flavors.
