  My husband and I recently did the Dining in the Dark experience at Ambar Clarendon with two other couples. Overall, it was a fun and unique experience, and I’m glad we tried it. The staff was friendly, and dining without your sense of sight definitely makes you appreciate flavors and textures in a different way. While we did receive a complimentary glass of champagne, I was disappointed by the overall value for the price. At just over $100 per person, I expected either more food or a more filling meal. Unfortunately, we all left feeling hungry. It was definitely a memorable experience and something I think everyone should try at least once. However, unless the portion sizes or overall value improve, I don’t think it’s something I would do again.

  I took my picky elderly mom and two kids (10/12) on a Friday night. It's $50 per person unlimited (food) for 2 hours. For the kids it was $24 each. We, as a whole, don't eat a lot so it's a bit expensive for us. It's tapas style or small shared plates. So in a way it's great thay each dish is not priced. My mom LOVED it and that's saying a lot for a woman who is a chef and super picky. My kids did too and so did I. The lamb medallions are two small slider size ground lamb patties. Delicious but gives you an idea why it's best the dishes are all under one umbrella price. We also had the potatoes wedges which were perfectly crisp and seasoned. White flatbread, mushroom risotto, beef goulash - super tender! - and shrimp with a corn mash. Highly recommend, would return. Good bar area too with a nice cocktail selection.

  My friend and I had the best experience at Ambar. Our waitress Ana L was amazing, professional, nice, knowledgeable and just overall made our experience truly enjoyable. I would highly recommend anyone coming here for brunch or any time of day. The Mac and cheese, potato hash, hanger steak, fruit granola and Balkan kabob were amazing. I would also highly recommend the drinks. We enjoyed the mimosas, mango lemonade, kiwi smash and angel & devil.

  Ana is the best waiter I’ve had in a very long time eating in Clarendon. She understands the menu very well and was able to get very good suggestions. We had a big party and she made everyone feel involved that even the members at our table were giving high praises. One of our members didn’t speak English, and she was able to accommodate and speak in his native language, Spanish, which he thoroughly enjoyed! I will be coming back here, but only if Ana is my waiter! She should be the manager soon!

  My husband surprised me with brunch at Ambar because he always checks menus ahead of time to make sure there are options for my food intolerances. When we arrived, I was initially concerned after learning that the "G" on the menu indicated dishes **containing** gluten rather than being gluten-free, which left me with far fewer choices than I expected. Thankfully, our server, Emma, immediately put me at ease. She brought me the food allergy menu, carefully walked me through my options, and made sure I understood what was safe for me to enjoy. While we were deciding whether to stay, the manager, Antonio, came to our table after Emma explained my dietary needs. He was incredibly kind, patient, and reassuring. He took the time to explain my options and worked with the kitchen to modify several dishes so I could enjoy a variety of plates from the brunch buffet. Because of Emma and Antonio, what started as a moment of uncertainty turned into an exceptional experience. The food was delicious, the mimosas were a great value, and the restaurant itself is beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light. What stood out most was the genuine care. Before we left, Antonio came back to check on me one last time to make sure I felt safe, accommodated, and satisfied. My husband had put so much thought into choosing this restaurant, and thanks to Emma and Antonio, we both left with happy hearts and full bellies. If you have food intolerances or dietary restrictions, I highly recommend Ambar. Their team went above and beyond to make sure I felt welcome, and that's exactly what five-star hospitality looks like.
