I’ve been a loyal customer at Yummy for the past eight years, going back to my residency at Inova. Over the years, I’ve brought many colleagues, friends, and professional contacts here because I’ve always had a personal connection to the restaurant.
As a cardiothoracic provider, business professional, and someone with both an MBA and a culinary/restaurant background, I’ve watched this business go through its ups and downs. I want to be honest that my experiences over the past three months have been disappointing.
I will say that the food has improved significantly in both presentation and flavor, and I’ve also noticed improvements with the hookah. The new owner has been very welcoming and accommodating, and I appreciate the effort being made.
However, the service, hospitality, communication, and overall professionalism need significant improvement. There seems to be a lack of proper training and attentiveness among the staff. For example, I was recently charged and later told that I had failed to pay for an item. That raises a basic question: was this customer negligence, or was it a breakdown in the restaurant’s process and attentiveness before the customer left? Situations like this should be addressed before the customer walks out rather than afterward through a relative reaching out.
I’ve continued coming here, even late at night around 1 a.m., because of the personal connection and memories I have with this place. That’s why I’m bringing this up—I genuinely want to see Yummy succeed.
I believe there needs to be more structure, accountability, and formal training around customer service, hospitality, serving etiquette, and communication. From my perspective, having only a manager and cashier overseeing these interactions is not enough to maintain the level of professionalism expected from a restaurant that has loyal customers and a strong reputation.
I’m sharing this respectfully because I care about the business and would like to see the improvements in the food and ownership matched by improvements in the overall customer experience.

So great so delecious! I took mango smoothie and seasonal french fries and i swear it s so delecious…! I recommend not sugar in the smoothie or u put sugar urself
Stopped by Yummy Kabob while I was at Inova Hospital visiting a family member. I tried the Dubai-style Karak chai and honestly, it was really good. It reminded me of the chai I used to have in Dubai. We also got the mix grill and hookah, and everything was solid. The hookah was smooth and they had a lot of flavors. Definitely enjoyed the visit and I’ll be back.

I’ve been here before, but honestly, the new management has really stepped it up. We came in for hookah and some food, and everything was really good. The chicken maqluba was flavorful and cooked perfectly and the mint lemonade was really refreshing. They also have a new hookah selection with a great variety of flavors. The hookah was hitting super smooth and they were bringing fresh charcoal on time without us having to keep asking. The service and atmosphere were both great too. You can definitely tell they’re putting a lot more effort into the place. Definitely coming back!
This place was such a wonderful find! I came with a few friends and we had a great experience. Divia, Chris, and Fares provided excellent service and were all so kind and welcoming. The owner was also very friendly and made us feel comfortable.
The drinks were refreshing, the hookah service was great, and I really enjoyed the music they played. It’s a lovely place to relax, spend time with friends, and enjoy a nice evening. I’ll definitely be coming back!
