We sat down at the bar and was immediately greeted by Dale. We had the most delicious drinks, prompt service, and wonderful entrée. Dale was engaging, professional, and accommodating. We are traveling here from Kansas City and could not be more pleased with the service we received from Dale We also came into contact with Antonio, who was just as wonderful The next time we are in town, we definitely plan on coming back This has been the best service we have ever had since we have been here.

The outdoor seating is pleasant on a beautiful day. The view of Potomac River is nice while dining outside. Indoor dining has a great view of the river as well. To start, the crab cakes has no dairy and is one large crab cake that you can share on top of a a large slice of tomato on top a dollop of remoulade. The plating is beautiful for this appetizer. We had the steak and shrimp with sticky rice to avoid any dairy. The 14 oz steak was good with mashed potatoes. Salmon is also tasty but it tasted very oily.
The sorbet is pretty large with five little scoops and the chocolate molten cake was delicious. Key lime pie is also a very good option to get.
We’re visiting from Texas. Google and good reviews made us go there for steak and seafood.
Sharing our experienced:
Service was too slow.
The atmosphere was good! But we seated outside so the sun was bothering me the whole time that i had to pull my chair and table to the shade area.
Lastly, my husband steak is dry and not we expected as steak lovers.
My halibut lobster Risotto is soooooooo salty!! I didn’t eat the fish just the risotto rice, I don’t even see the lobster. Food looks amazing though! But not the taste!
Inattentive service. Inconsiderate management. I was there with a party of 10 to celebrate a family member's 80th birthday. While we really didn't have issues with the food, the service, or lack of service therof was disturbing. The patron should never have to fill their own water glasses.... multiple times. Erin, the acting manager was rude and confrontational - 100% unapologetic. Her justification was that normal service for a couple of two takes around 1.5 hours, so 2 hours was just fine. I also emailed the GM. I have not received a response after nearly a week. Please save yourself time and effort (especially with Mothers Day coming soon). Though the view is great, the poor service is not worth your time.
You know the saying you get what you pay for? That definitely doesn't hold true with Chart House. We were a party of 12 with reservations at 5:15pm, so our bill was more than most. Chart House is considered fine dining with it's waterfront location in Old Town Alexandria, VA, but our experience today makes me question that. The food here is good but not great. My chimichurri steak and shrimp was lacking flavor so I had to add seasoning to it. Those who got the salad bar thought it was really good with different options to choose from. Everyone else enjoyed their food for the most part, but the service there was abysmal. We didn't complain about the food taking a little longer to come out because we had alot of guests. We understood that would be the case because of our large party. We were unhappy with the inattentiveness of our waiter. He checked on us a few times in the beginning but he kept forgetting to refill our waters or didn't pay attention to our table much after that. It was so bad my brother-in-law and I had to fill water for the table on 2 separate occasions. What's crazy is that the staff see us walking to the where the pitchers of water are and serving ourselves in front of the guests. Did they come over to take over?? No they didn't. The worst part was it took 10 to 15 minutes before our waiter even came near our table, when we were ready to wrap things up for dessert and birthday cake for my Mom's birthday. My brother-in-law had to literally chase our waiter down to get the desserts and cake to come out. And another 10 or so minutes to get the desserts and cake to our table. They placed the birthday cake at our table so we could take a photos with my mom and then they left without even cutting it for us, so we started to cut it ourselves. Then another staff member comes over and takes the cake I brought in to cut it in the kitchen. It took another 10 or so minutes before they came back out with the cake on plates. I could understand if the restaurant was packed for the long wait times, but it wasn't even busy at all. There were a lot of empty tables, so that can't be an excuse/reason. The icing on the cake is when we asked for the manager, she had the audacity to argue with my brother who was talking calmly and explaining what happened. She basically lied and said as soon as the cake was brought back to be cut in the kitchen, that it came back out right away. It doesn't take that long to cut a 1/4 sheet cut that we already started to cut. The manager needs some more training. You don't argue with a customer, especially not in front of other customers. My brother wasn't even talking loud, raising his voice, or anything. Even if he did, she shouldn't have argued in front of other patrons. That's horrible management skills right there. We left the restaurant around 730pm. That's 2 hours and 15 minutes we we were there. Nothing was really resolved with her, so we asked for the contact info for the GM. That's probably not going to do anything. If the manager couldn't take accountability and apologize for the poor service we had, I doubt the GM will either. I will never come back to Chart House again. Thank you Chart House for showing that fine dining isn't always fine dining. They're lucky my brother-in-law or I weren't the ones talking to the manager tonight.
