Came here on a Saturday night at 9:30 pm. We had a reservation and evreything. We were quickly seated, but we weren't waited for another 30 minutes after being seated, which didn't make sense, since the restaurant was basically empty. The bread here isn't my favorite, it's pretty dry and tasted a bit old. There was also a UFC fight that night so it sucked that there were no TVs to watch the fight in the restaurant.

I have to say what a memorable birthday celebration we had here for my wife. Madison was the best host for us that we could have asked for. She made our dining experience that more enjoyable. She went beyond to show my wife the special birthday attention she so deserve. The food never fails at Brio!! That Cabernet that Madison suggested from Italy was a spectacular combination with my chicken Marsala. We will be coming here more often!!

I ordered a take out Lemon Chicken, $28 with bread. I recieved Lemon Chicken and an omlet. (The chicken was thick and tough, not pounded out with a mallet as customary with lemon/picatta Chicken): "Yes, it is highly customary and recommended to pound chicken for chicken piccata). Note: the names Lemon Chicken and Chicken Picatta are interchangeable, same thing, chicken served with a creamy "lemon butter caper sause."
Upon being told the sause is made once a day, thus not being able to customized, I asked the hostess to ask the chef if he could double the lemon by adding more lemon when heating up my sause for my order. She seemed not to under stand what I was saying. She confirmed she would explain what I said. My order was ready soon and I noticed they charged me for "butter lemon." The hostess said she had to charge for the butter lemon. I explained i did not order more butter and do not want more butter. I only ordered more lemon to to my sause when heating. (Doesnt taste the same if you add lemon after cooked.) The manager overheard the conversation and said they dont charge for more lemon and took my dinner to the back to add more lemon and hopefully take out the extra butter. I got home and saw my meal, and honestly could not taste much lemon but my dinner was swimming with butter with a strong taste of butter and clumps of omelet eggs that I guess was suppose to be the light breading for the thick tough chicken. Very dissapointing. I dont think I am a fussy eater but this order was wrong in so many ways. It would help to pound out the meat to tenderize, use a light coating for the chicken, more lemon, more capers, less butter and leave the omelet on the brunch menu.

My complaint here is that we had a reservation for 18 people to celebrate 2 University of Utah graduates. When we arrived, Hailey, the front desk girl, treated us very badly. She was rude and condescending when we told her we were supposed to be seated all together. She had one table for half our group in one section and the other half in another section. They were not busy as there were only 2 tables occupied in the entire restaurant. She refused to accommodate us so we asked to speak to the manager. She then told us to go wait in the front area. We waited over 30 minutes and when we finally were able to speak to the manager he quickly accommodated us and seated us all together. Hailey needs to find another line of work as I found her very unwelcoming and rude. After we got past Hailey, we were treated very well. The service and food were excellent!!

Meh, just meh.
TL;DR:
Overpriced for the food quality and overall atmosphere. Felt like it was trying to be a fancier version of another Italian food restaurant chain. Missed the mark on food and classy staff. Not worth the visit even with a $20 off coupon.
We got a couple of coupons in the mail for this restaurant. $20 of an order of $40 or more. We visited the Salt Lake location and the Murray location.
During our visit to the Murray location, the hostess led us to tables near the open patio area. It was a wind-chilled evening and neither of us had a jacket. I asked if the area would get closed at any point and she said no. I said I'd prefer not to sit next to a breeze. She asked if we wanted to sit in the outdoor seating area. That's strange because I said I didn't want to sit near a breeze...so I declined. She took us back to the hostess stand and looked for seats, reporting that it would be a 45 minute wait. We would wait. She asked for the reservation name and I gave her my husband's name. I repeated it two or three times at her request, and physically indicated towards my husband.
When we returned, we were asked if we were under a female version of my husband's name. Despite attempts to clarify she had put down the wrong name. That's okay, we still got led to a table.
The server was kind and polite. I had no issues with her.
The food was clearly mass produced and appeared to be prepped without pride in the dishes. The food is subpar for the price. The $8 side salad looked like it came from a bag of lettuce at the grocery store doused in Olive Garden dressing.
The $16 flatbread was underwhelming. The flavor was okay, but the bread itself was flimsy and chewy. I was expecting a crusty bread with some depth to it. This was like a flimsy cardboard round with toppings.
The $20 lasagna was decent, but had too much cheese and not enough meat for my husband's preference. I would have liked more sauce.
On a previous visit we ordered the pasta carbonara with sausage. I think we got 4-6 slices of sausage and the sauce was thin and soupy. Maybe that is how professional carbonara is supposed to be?
The entrees don't come with any sides. Those must be ordered separately. The entrees are large enough to share (nearly 1800 calories for the lasagna!) so I would suggest sharing entrees and getting a side to share if you want to eat more than just large amounts of carbs and a bit of protein with your meal.
We had the tiramisu, which was good. No real complaints about that. Though, I don't eat it often enough to know what standards to hold it to. It was probably the best part of the meal. Large enough to share for sure!
The staff, including the manager, seemed underdressed and unprofessional in their appearance. Not what I would expect from a place that charges $20+ for entrees. A little refinement is expected. Several of the female servers had their hair up in what I would call a shower bun, or a messy bun. Just not classy.
