Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
I have been to several Whataburger establishments over the course of my 30 years of life in Texas, however this experience at this particular Whataburger was by far the worst experience. My family and I stopped by here to just order fries and head home after hiking in New Waverly this morning. We walked in, ordered 3 large fried and a prickly pear. That’s it. We waiting for over 30 minutes for French fries and a drink. We didn’t even get the drink until after 20 minutes. We sat and watched 3 families walk in after us, ordered meals for each family member, and receive their food before we ever got ours. After visiting the counter 2 separate time and asking them what is going on, they were very dismissive and couldn’t care less about why it is taking over 30 minutes for fries and a prickly pear. After they brought out food for more people that ordered after us, we finally asked for an excuse as to why we are the only people in the establishment without a drink or food, and we’d been there longer than most of the people in the restaurant. She said “I don’t know I’m new but I told them about your food”. This might be a good time to add that we just so happened to be the only black customers in the entire establishment. It made us feel really uncomfortable, especially because their reasoning for bringing us our food last was “I don’t know what’s going on”. I’m not sure what their motive was, and I’d like to think it wasn’t racially driven, but when asked they provide no valid excuse and didn’t care about making the situation right at all. They certainly set the tone for our experience, and made it very clear that we are not welcome, nor is our concern. That said, we will not return to this location ever, nor another Whataburger and I strongly believe that that is the message they wanted to get across. We would rather spend our money where it’s welcomed.

Does Krystal ever get a day off?! She’s seriously my morning go to weekdays and weekends . I took a break from fast food, but when life gets busy and I’m out running around, I always end up back, and she’s the reason why. She’s always so friendly, and I genuinely enjoy hearing her on the speaker. My order is consistently fresh, and she makes sure I’ve got every sauce I ask for. Whether it’s breakfast or lunch, she double-checks everything and confirms it with me. If you order lunch at breakfast just wait a few it takes time!!! You won’t be disappointed. If she’s not already a manager, she absolutely should be. Thank you, Krystal—you’re amazing!

5 stars for Amanda at Whataburger.
She was so bad, honestly. From the second we walked in, she had the best energy and was joking around with us the whole time. You can tell she actually cares about the people she’s serving because she was so kind and made sure everything was perfect.
I’m telling you, she was so bad. She’s definitely the nicest worker there and made the whole vibe better. If you go, hope you get her because she was so bad and really held it down for us.
Foot note: Bad means very good
