Did a delivery order on Sunday, ordered chicken and dressing, meatloaf and smothered pork chops. Didn't receive the chicken with the dressing as you can see in the photo. I reached out twice through their online delivery system and received no response. I would not be ordering again because the food we received was not very tasty and overly seasoned.

My grandmother and great-grandmother were both that deep-south Alabama southern belle type that could serve you up a meal that would fix all your life’s problems. Ida Mae’s is like sitting back down in their kitchens, dare I say maybe even better. Ordered pickup the day after giving birth, took the first bite and immediately felt like a whole person again. Now my baby boy has dreams about that catfish, greens, black eyed peas, and yams. Went in for a sit down a few days later with family and we all left full and happy, feeling like we’d won the lottery. If there’s ever a night I’m not cooking, we’re going to Ida Mae’s, no sense in going anywhere else when you got the best right there.
I guess I'm the one that's not going to leave 5 stars. Granted, the service was good; and our waiter was very nice and accommodating. As a first time customer, I was not prepared for how small the seating area would be; the photos posted made the place look much larger. I felt like there was a lack of privacy, since a woman to my left and to my right, seemed to be listening to me and my friends conversation. However, music was playing a bit too loudly for a comfortable dining experience; it was a bit hard to have a conversation. I ordered the chicken spaghetti; it came with two sides, but the options were not very complementary to the entree. So I randomly chose collard greens and cabbage. To my surprise, the cabbage had a kick of heat that I had never experienced before. I'm content with nonspicey cabbage. Everything was cooked as good as it could be, but I think the combination of entree to sides, wasn't working for me. It just didn't hit the spot. When we were ready to pay, I thought it was odd that our waiter didn't give us a printed itemized ticket. He simply read back our order to us, swiped our cards on a hand held device, then gave us a credit card receipt to sign. No mention of price, at any time. In the moment, I was not concerned with the total; and yes, I tipped. It wasn't until a few days later, when I saw the charge via text from my bank, that I realized I had spent over $28 for lunch! My goodness! It was a Saturday lunch, when no one offers lunch specials, but that is absolutely ridiculous. Never again.

My wife and I are new to Waxahachie and we like to try new places. I went in expecting to get some fried chicken but all they had was fried wings. They were good but not what I had expected, the website says fried chicken. The service was slow and not very good. We both got iced tea but were never offered a refill, two glasses of tea for $8. I had chicken and waffles with a side of black eyed peas and my wife had meatloaf with two sides. The black eyed peas were good but not worth the $6 I had to pay for them. My wife said the meatloaf was dry and burnt on one side. The music was playing so loud you couldn't talk to each other. Over all the food was so so, the service was terrible, the price was way out of proportion for what you got ($60 with tip), and the music was way too loud. We were hoping for a good experience but sad to say it wasn’t, we won’t be back.

First time there. Food was good and large portions. Ordered pinto beans and the beans were good but more like chili than the pinto beans I’ve eaten for years. The only negative complaint I have is the loud music. It was so loud had to ask the waiter to repeat himself since the music was so loud. You want to have a conversation at dinner but you don’t want to have to shout at them and we weren’t hard of hearing. Will come back again but hope the music isn’t as loud.
