Had what I needed, good prices and good quality meat. Construction in the area makes it rough in and out. But worth the wait

I used to love shopping here. Then I started noticing a problem with the meat I was purchasing on more than one occasion, it wasn’t fresh. The day I finally decided to say something, instead of taking my concern seriously, a manager actually rebutted me and tried to make it seem like the problem was somehow my fault. Let me be very clear about what happened. I purchased the meat, brought it home, and immediately put it in the freezer. When I was ready to use it, I transferred it to the refrigerator, placed it in a container, and allowed it to thaw properly. Once it started loosening up, I added vinegar and massaged it as I normally do. I began seasoning it, and that’s when I noticed the discoloration. That stopped me in my tracks. I inspected it further, smelled it and it smelled like death. 🤢 And this is exactly why I believe customers need to be extremely careful when purchasing meat here or anywhere else. I have personally seen customers pick up meat and leave it somewhere they shouldn’t, only for an associate to later find it and put it back on the shelf without necessarily knowing how long it had been sitting out or what temperature it reached. That is a food-safety concern. But what bothered me just as much as receiving spoiled meat was the manager’s response. Instead of listening to the customer and addressing the possibility that the product itself may have been mishandled before it ever reached my hands, I was questioned about whether I had left the meat out or somehow caused the issue? I purchased the meat. I froze it. I thawed it in the refrigerator. I handled it appropriately. Yet somehow, I was treated like I was the problem? That interaction told me everything I needed to know about the management. I haven’t been back since, and I won’t be returning. A business can make a mistake, but how management responds when a customer brings a legitimate concern to their attention says a lot. Be careful with your meat purchases, and pay attention to discoloration, odor, packaging, and anything else that seems off. If something doesn’t look or smell right, don’t risk it.

I got several things since they were on sale. I didn't have signal or wifi in store- so I checked out and put phone number in. It said "Unable to process discounts. Try again?" The cashier reached over and pressed the "No" button and told me I should have clipped them on the app. Real pushy and impatient. I nearly collided with Tony sweeping in produce. I had to lock it up to avoid contact. This is the first bad visit for me at an H.E.B store. Cashier: YDALY 291048 7-7-26 7:29 249/11/00672
