We waited about 15 minutes after being seated before our waiter came to our table. While he apologized for the wait, the restaurant was not busy, we were his only table. We felt overlooked throughout the meal. After bringing our food, he never checked back on us. My husband’s steak was overcooked, but we never had the opportunity to mention it and I couldn’t get steak sauce before my steak got cold. It was frustrating watching him regularly check on and chat with his other tables (that came in well after us) while we struggled to get his attention. When we did, his responses felt brief and rushed. We don’t go out often, especially for a meal at this price point and this was my birthday dinner. I don’t expect perfect service, but I do expect basic follow up and attentiveness.

There was a noticeable difference in our experience at Saltgrass Tyler than in the past. I noticed immediately and even commented that the lighting and atmosphere were nice, it was warm and easy on the eye, easy to relax from the beginning. From the start with hot bread, to the steaks cooked perfectly, to the service that was on point by Luke. Luke quietly and professionally provided great service. He never missed a step. From the drinks being served quickly to perfectly prebussing, the only thing left on the table at the end were our drinks and napkins, that is providing great service. That kind of service warrants great tips. That is how a full service restaurant should do it. But behind the scenes of Luke was a well run restaurant. I could feel it, I noticed it. To the point that I even ask Luke, “has there been a change in management here?”, because it’s takes good management, hiring great servers, making sure the bread is hot, attention to details, making sure the kitchen is running at optimum performance to provide an overall great experience for the customers. Thank you to the Saltgrass Tyler team.

I was really impressed with the meal. I had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and flash fried green beans. chicken fried steak was best i have had since moving out of California 20 years ago. i know this because i have had nothing but disappointment at other places i tried it. price was exceptionally reasonable for the meal. customer service was excellent. waiter really was a real worker. I will definitely go back.

We recently hosted my dad’s 80th birthday dinner at Saltgrass Steak House and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. A special thank you to Brooklyn, who called earlier that day to go over all the details and made sure everything was prepared ahead of time. That level of communication gave us so much peace of mind. Our servers, Gamble, Catarina, and Bekah, did an amazing job taking care of a party of 35 guests. Managing that many orders can be challenging, but everything was handled so smoothly and seamlessly. I also want to recognize Michael Button, the manager, who was extremely attentive throughout the event and continuously checked in to make sure everything was going well. Celebrating such an important milestone for our family was made even more special because of the excellent service we received. Thank you to the entire team at in Tyler for helping make this celebration memorable. Highly recommend!

‼️ Served Raw Chicken ‼️ We made the drive from Nacogdoches, TX, to Saltgrass to celebrate Father's Day a day early, but unfortunately, our visit was very disappointing and ended up costing us even more money when we had to eat elsewhere afterward. The first issue we encountered was that my husband’s order was incorrect. He was served a Chicken Fried Steak instead of the Chicken Fried Chicken he ordered. Since several people at our table had ordered Chicken Fried Chicken, we initially brushed it off as an honest mistake and notified our server. A few minutes later, my husband’s Chicken Fried Chicken arrived. Not only was it the smallest portion we have ever received from any steakhouse (see photo), but what happened next was even worse. My husband had been looking forward to this meal the entire drive to Tyler. His disappointment quickly turned to disgust when he took a bite, immediately spit it out, and discovered the chicken was raw. At that point, he was completely done with the experience and chose not to order anything else. As the person we were there to celebrate, it was difficult for the rest of our party to continue enjoying our meals while he sat there without food. To make matters worse, all of the fries served to our table tasted burnt. Because of this experience, we had to go somewhere else to eat afterward, resulting in additional time and expense. Serving raw chicken is a serious food safety issue and completely unacceptable. We expected much better, especially after making the trip specifically to celebrate a special occasion.
