A Turner Girl
Aug 25, 2026
I had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience at Jimmy John’s today.
I went through the drive-thru and asked if I could get a Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich in a tortilla instead. Kendra asked which tortilla I preferred. Since I had never been asked that before, I simply asked her what the difference was between the two tortillas she mentioned. Instead of answering my question, she continued speaking to me through the speaker in a rude and irritated manner.
When I got to the window, I asked Kendra if she was frustrated. She told me yes, and indicated that she was frustrated because I was asking about the difference between the two tortillas. She then began getting loud, talking over me, and telling me that I was rude because I ultimately asked for a regular tortilla.
At that point, I told her I refused to pay for poor customer service, and she allowed the drive-thru window to close. I then went inside the lobby to address the situation. As soon as I walked in, Kendra told me, “Don’t come in here.” I asked her for the corporate number, which she did not provide. Instead, I was given the number for the general manager, Chad.
I contacted Chad and explained what happened. He apologized for Kendra’s behavior and explained that employees have quit and that she was the only person working. He also offered to pay for my next meal. While I appreciated his apology and offer, I explained that I would not feel comfortable returning to this location after being treated this way.
I understand that being short-staffed can be stressful, and I can sympathize with an employee having to work alone. However, being frustrated or understaffed does not justify speaking rudely to a customer, raising your voice, talking over them, or telling them not to enter the restaurant simply because they asked a question about the menu.
I ultimately contacted corporate because I did not feel that an apology and a free meal adequately addressed the level of unprofessionalism I experienced. I was not looking for anything free—I simply expected to be treated respectfully while placing an order. This entire situation could have been avoided by simply answering my question about the tortillas in a professional manner.
Unfortunately, after this experience, I do not feel comfortable returning to this Jimmy John’s location.
