  First time trying True Texas BBQ at H-E-B and had a great experience. Chuck took care of me, explained all the current promotions, and even let me know about the weekly text specials. The place was clean, the service was top-notch, and Mr. Chuck really went above and beyond. Definitely coming back!

  Thank you #TrueTexasBBQ for being a part of our Hill Country Texas visit. As Fellow Texans and Native Houstonians we LOVED the WATERMELON ICE TEA. PLEASE ADD TO THE REGULAR MENU! I must tell you, we absolutely loved your ribs, collard greens, beans with brisket, and crisp dill pickles along with your homemade sauces! Special thanks to Aly, Tyler, Paul, Jason; Randy for your awesome menu items and delicious recipes. You all made everything perfect. Antigone and John.

  Chuck is always friendly and helpful Always promotes or encourages suggestion. He is a true team player I seen him help the staff and engages with the customers The food is good I would love to see chicken on the menu, not just during a certain time of year. I would also love to have some choices different sides like Spanish rice or a savory pasta salad baked beans .. And a less sweet barbecue sauce to have an option of a more vinegar taste of barbecue 👍🏼🙌🏼

  The portion of the $4.99 pulled pork sandwich is kind of small. There was a yucky- looking piece of pork skin in there, which I was told is normal. BBQ sauce is a little too spicy for my taste. I've had better cole slaw. I'm not sure if I would eat here again. I'm a little disappointed in the portion size, since this is HEB. Oh, they just brought me another sandwich to go. That was nice. Yeah HEB. And yes, I'm picky.

  Just left True Texas BBQ at the Bulverde & 1604 spot and had to drop a review while it’s still fresh. This place delivers solid, no-nonsense Texas BBQ right when you need it—especially convenient being tucked in the H-E-B area with quick drive-thru or dine-in options. The brisket was the star: juicy, tender, with that perfect smoky flavor and a nice peppery bark. It had real depth without being overdone—easily stands up to some of the bigger-name joints around San Antonio. The St. Louis pork ribs were meaty, fall-off-the-bone good, and the brisket beans were loaded with flavor (highly recommend those). Mac & cheese was creamy and comforting, and the sausage had a solid snap. Portions are generous, the meats are clearly slow-smoked in-house over Texas oak, and everything tasted fresh. Service was friendly and efficient—got my order fast with a smile. Prices are fair for the quality, especially if you’re feeding a family or grabbing plates to go. If you’re in the Bulverde/1604 area and craving real Texas BBQ without the long lines at the tourist spots, stop here. It’s earned that “Best BBQ Chain in Texas” nod for a reason. Will definitely be back for more brisket and maybe trying the Texas Torpedo next time! Highly recommended. 🇨🇱
